I disagree with you darth. Sony sales are not good, but they can't drop the price either. (just before some pissed off ps3 fan calls me a 360 fanboy, 360 is doing horrible and I own all three)

I don't think anyone would see this as good sales since it is going to go lower in June and July. It is last place no matter how you slice it, it is losing to the 360 even by 10k still losing. It isn't making a profit margin either (where the 360 has some magically profit source).

Well, by no means are the sales "good".  But when I compare sales I look at PS3 and X360 together and see that X360 should be creaming PS3. But the X360 isn't.

I did say they shouldn't drop the price unless they can do it and still maintain profit per sale or only a very slight loss.  They could do this with a case redesign to drop material costs and a internal parts shrink (32nm die shrink, etc).

Trying to get major profits per console, thus keeping price $399-$499, is going to in the long run keep profits down.  Game sales are seriously struggling on the PS3 and that is the ultimate barometer.

What I don't understand is why Sony doesn't give priority to GT5 for this holiday... it has to be one of the biggest screw ups of the generation if they don't.

the PS3 is selling ok .but compared to 08 it's selling less every month

Well I'm hoping for a pricecut and a more reliable system (slim maybe?) simply because I'm currently lacking a functioning ps3 to call my own. If that wasn't the case, I won't want sony to drop the price lol.

Yeah, I entirely agree. Sony does't need a price cut. Figures are decent. I would wait for Microsoft. Let them lower the price first.

It sure seems that Sony is still sucking the same wind they always have way back in a distant third place to the leader. Your story would have merit if the competition wasn't doing well in the same horrible economy but like you said that's just not the case. Sony posted some major losses at the beginning of the year that forced layoffs I doubt stock holders will want to hear about a price cut on something that may not be turning a profit yet.
