Forums - Website Topics - Suggestion: Show owned consoles.

I just had this thought, and I thought I should bring it up, now all of the VGC 2.0 and E3 pandemonium is over.

Basically, I think that a section of the profile should be allocated to showing which consoles you have owned, much like Playfire. Not just PS3, Wii, 360, but 3DO, 2600, DreamCast, etc.

Then, you should be able to search for users who own each console. Perhaps in a post, it can show a little tile of the consoles you own. Or perhaps that is going too far. Maybe only current and last gen consoles?

You can check the game collection to see what consoles people own, but a lot of people don't update this, and besides, there's no way of searching that.

Do you understand what I am saying?

Although it may add to the fanboyism, I think otherwise it's a great and easy idea to implement.

Great idea! too bad I'm lazy.. I don't even bother to add all the games that I have on my profile... >_>

This would be nice and simple. A drop down menu, like in the Game Search, and an "Add" button.

But in this age of backwards compatability and Virtual Consoles, just how accurate would such a list really be?

A 60GB PS3 is a PS3. A Wii is a Wii. The PS3 is not a PS2 or PS1, the Wii is not a GameCube, N64, SNES, etc.

I think it's a pretty good idea, I'd like it.

I'm really not sure what knowing if someone claims they have a Gamecube or PS1 does for me as a user here. If I have a Wii, I basically also have a Gamecube; much like if I have a PS2 or PS1, I also have a PS1 built in. It becomes difficult with PS3s though, as some play all PS2 games, some play most PS2 games, and most play no PS2 games at all. So, some PS3 games may have a vast knowledge of PS2 games because they bought a bunch of PS2 games for retro gaming, where another may have no knowledge at all, and may never be able to play such games.

I'm not against the idea, I'm just not sure what function it would fulfil. I'm more than open to being persuaged I'm missing something, though.

Well, for one, we could do a search and see how many users own that console. Also, we could have them give a purchase date (as accurate as they can remember- a year, month or even a day). I could look at Darth's profile and see immediately "Hey look, he has a Wii!" without looking in his game collection or anything.

It also helps when somebody is trolling an exclusive, say Killzone 2, and you look at their profile and they only own a 360...

Nothing important or wildly exciting, but it would be a nice addition, and I don't think it would take much work to implement.
