Forums - Sony - What games do you think will benefit most from a PS3 price cut?

When a PS3 price cut finally arrives what games do you think will benefit most from the (hopefully large) increase in hardware sales? Although I wouldn't say many PS3 exclusives have flopped, they haven't performed quite as well as Sony may have hoped so is a price cut likely to change this?

I think the game that will benefit most will be Little Big Planet due to it's appeal to multiple audiences and the likelihood that many people who would like to play this game are not going to spend £300 ($400?) to do so. Therefore, when a cheaper PS3 becomes available I see this game picking up in sales.

Another game I think could benefit would be Killzone 2, although not as well as LBP. As it's a more 'hardcore' game the current PS3 price may not be as off putting to those wanting to play this as opposed to LBP, however, as it's a flagship title I still expect sales to increase a little. Although the timing of the price cut has to be taken into account as any cut close to the release of MW2 will probably kill off many extra sales for Killzone 2.

MGS4 may also get a nice boost. Granted, most of the core fans of the series already own a PS3 but as a Halo 3 shows, great games continue sell when the install base is big enough.

Any thoughts?

Well obviously they may all get a slight boost (except Lair ) but some are much more likely to get larger increases due to the change in the demographic. Also, will Sony consider the impact rival games may have on software boosts? For example, will they announce a price cut around August/September so that Killzone 2 sales may increase as a cut much later will likely negate many sales due to the release of MW2? As I said, I think LBP could get some huge legs when hardware sales increase, much more so than any other title.

Hey I bet Lair can get boost too :) After all there probably be more people interested in picking it up cheap to see what the fuss was all about and just out of curiosity to check that Sisaxis controls.

whatever sony bundles it with LOL

Gran Turismo 5 is an obvious one- GT is a franchise associated with Sony, and a lot of GT fans would be waiting for the PS3 to become more affordable to play their favourite racer again (please don't bring up Forza. Please). Plus, the price cut would likely happen around GT5's launch. And GT5 would be a system seller in itself.

Yeah unreleased games will gain the most from a larger install base but I was really interested in what older titles people thought may gain some great legs in sales (should probably have worded the question better )

Uncharted will benefit a lot from it. Uncharted series is the new Flagship of SONY. Together with GOW, R&C, LBP and GT.
Uncharted is really famous now. With a Price Cut, A lot of new PS3 users will check out Uncharted. That's only my opinion.

Uncharted was a good suggestion and may very well get a boost especially with the second one around the corner. LittleBigPlanet I think will get a significant boost, Killzone 2 as well. And any of the Greatest Hits games will get a boost, gamers will want to see what they missed out on.

Personally I would like to see inFamous get a boost along with, Heavenly Sword and Valkyria Chronicles.
