Guess what, it doesn't matter if it is against the law.  You can ban people from carrying guns but you can't stop them.  You can ban guns but you cannot remove them from society.  Criminals tend not to care about the law.

Ok, so you obviously don't believe in the idea of a constitutional state at all. The Monopoly on legitimate use of phyiscal force is one of the basic principles of a modern constitutional state. What you describe sounds more like "cold civil war" to me... not a society I'd want to live in.
It's a classic conservative idea to continue the arms race against criminals - it doesn't work, as fmc83's numbers show: "homicide rate in germany is 0,98 in 100.000 while it's 6,1 per 100k in the USA." Reminds me of Brazil, where the left-wing president tried to introduce a gun ban some years ago. The public voted against it, for fear of being defenseless against gangsters. This way it will never end, I'm afraid.

I didn't describe any type of system or say I was against a small government.  I didn't even mention those things.

BTW, the homicide rate is 1.4 in New Hampshire, where I live.

Surely this is some kind of joke? How can this 'law' be anything constitutional???

We are talking about Germany here.  Germany isn't exactly know for freedom of speech.  In fact, it may have the worst freedom of speech laws of any Western developed nation.

No, that's Italy. You can't say anything bad about Berlusconi on the tv. Why? Because he owns all the media. There's no press freedom there and other stuff. Who cares about Germany anyway, it's an ugly country

I'm actually surprised how stupid they are over there in Germany. If you can get your hands on weapons to kill people then you'll have no problem at all getting your hands on a violent game. I guess they never heard of common sense. Everytime I go to Germany(and I go there a lot) I see posters of Merkel with a Hitler mustache drawn on it and sich Heil written all over it. This pretty much proves how retarded that country is.

If you're not here for trolling, I can explain the mustache thing to you. It's made by kids like you are and some left-wing-nuts to make fun of a person, because everybody looks stupid with that kind of mustache. With the "Sieg Heil"-thing written the kids want to state, that her politics are in their opinion too right-wing. The drawing of the mustache in a comedic sense comes originally from England.

The rest makes no sense. It's not that they want to ban violent games so that murderers can upgrade their skills (but that's what you actually said).

Ah yeah and I actually feel offended, that you call Germans like me retards. It's the same thing as if I would call you Dutroux's little favorite. Wouldn't feel to good, ey?

Guys really this law will never make it through the parliament so stop getting over yourselves. And some people are really talking about things they don't know anyhing about.

There IS freedom of speech in Germany and you can also say things that are unconstitutional as long as it isn't a Nazi-slogan.

Also Germany is a democratic country. Has there never been an American politician who had a bad idea?

There are loads of cases in which Germany is way more liberal than America. Think of abortion, same-sex unions, etc.

Additionally most laws have to be in line with EU standards anyways so that law wouldn't last long.

what are they trying to prove?

There have been 10s of 1000 of US politicans with bad ideas.

Abortion is legal in the US.  Are you talking about late term abortion?  I don't think you can decide to abort your baby a few weeks before it is due in the US.

Gay marriage is a state issue in the US.  For example, New Hampshire, the state to the west of it, the state to the east of it, and two of the state just south of it all have gay marriage.

You are right about some laws, though.  For example, isn't prostituion legal in Germany?  It's only legal in 2 US states.

I care a lot about my safety which is why I'm completely against gun bans.  I live in New Hampshire, the freest and safest state in the US.  It's no suprise that we have fewer cops and less restrictive self-defense laws than just about anywhere else in the US.  It is perfectly legal for a 14 year old to strap on a gun and walk in the state capital or a bar.  I was at a bar last night and several of my friends where openly wearing guns while drinking beer.  I love the safety I feel around such people.

Sarcasm?

Not at all.  Why do you sense sarcasm?  The more people with guns, the safer I feel.

You feel safer with drunk people armed and ready to blast your head off in their inebriated state?

Have fun.

Don't missread this as the author of the article did, this means that excessive cruelty and blood will be banished, not all killings. It's one thing to depict death, it's an other to have heads explode left and right with body parts flying around...

This is good news.

I personnaly am sick of seeing movies come out where the main thing is seeing people ripped appart, sure, I don't have to see them, but there is nothing saying "watch out this movie is full of sadistic passages..." (Thinking of Tarantino movies there). That kind of thing has started to become so standard that it's not considered shocking anymore...

Games have started to praise blood too (Ninja gaiden where every chop... is a member chop, or manhunt, zombie games...), this law is a start, for a better environment. At least that is what I believe.

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

oh dear poor Germans...

I was actually talking about public acception. "Pro Life" and "Pro Choice" movements are about equally strong (the last poll I read showed a slight lead of the "pro-choice" side) while in Germany abortion is widely accepted. Same with gay marriage (although we don't have a real "marriage" either but I think there are more anti-gay-marriage people in the US).
