Only in MikeB's world would the PS3 be on par with a console with a Shader 5 GPU and 1 GB of RAM.

If true (which I doubt), then them specs are pretty poor
The next xbox could still work on dvd9, Just have an install disc and a play disc. Very simple. Its cheap.
Just have xbox come with a 160gb hdd and your set.

Im not making it up, besides there not looking to come up with a new format. Toshiba is trying to improve on its current format to keep it alive. The fact is movies could switch over to the new format and you could buy the hardware when you want to. Its like playing BD discs in your old dvd player. You just don't get HD until you get the new player.
It's funny how MikeB immediately had to bring the PS3 and Blu-ray into this lol.
They really need to update the format Imo. DVD just won't cut it next Gen.
I really doubt it. The rumour about a nextbox with a GC - Wii like transition has been rumoured before, and the idea that they will release an Xbox Natal makes some sort of sense. But I don't buy it. They have been very keen to stress how this works on existing hardware, and then to take that away...
The thing is, you would assume that they would include a controller in this to allow backwards compatibility, but then you would have the added cost of the Natal in there, so it would not really appeal to existing hardcore gamers because of the price, but would they remove the 360 from shelves to help push the Natal? At E3 they were saying that they plan to have the 360 as a 10 year product, so I am really confused....
Also, with Gears of War 2 and Halo Reach likely coming out in fall 2010, both massive games, would they use those as Natal only games? If that were the case, you would have to question why they would not just introduce a brand new, more future proof console?
thank god for wi fi
i care most about how its manufactured tho, as a guy on 360 number 3.
hope this is a joke tho, its too early.
What I don't understand is why people are bitching so much about how soon the console is coming out. Both Nintendo and Sony have release new consoles every 5 - 6 years so assuming the MS starts leaking infos abou the new Xbox it would mean that it has come out in a 5 to 6 year period, very well in pace with the other 2. Also Sega was no different back in the day. A new Xbox doesn't mean there won't be support for the current one, specially since its doing very well right now, it just means potential price drops on i.
5 year cycle...right on the money. 360 came out is 2005, definitely due for a new console. Though this console still has shortcomings even compared to the current gen PS3. The PS3 has one single core CPU and one Cell CPU with 7 active cores + 1 core for redundancy. This new Xbox only has one 6 core CPU. Secondly, XBox Live is presumably still not free for the next Xbox. Thirdly, using the same media 3 generations in a row is lame. DVDs will not have enough storage for all next generation games. Disc swapping is so 5 years ago.
