Everytime someone talks to me about Xbox the only game they ever mention is Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3...

All I want to ask is whether or not the first Xbox would have every lived in the market without Halo and if so what other exclusive game would have done so?

This is just a question and all I want is a simple answer. I have played all 3 Halo's so no need to explain how good it is. ;)

You could probably just say the XBox brand would not exist without Halo 1.

But once Gears of War came along, the Xbox 360 no longer needed Halo nearly as much.

Halo games are the "flagship" games of the x-box. the game has a large fan base and I also have some friends who got the x-box & x-box 360 just because of halo series or because it was advertised like hell and they got interested.

But we need to take in to account that 360 was out before ps3 and there were a lot of people who were really impatient to get a new HD-console so they bought halo 3 as the first game on it which helped it's sales a lot.

The XB1 wouldn't have a chance, IMO. Halo is an Xbox cornerstone.

I don't think the 360 would be anywhere near where its at now if it wasn't for Halo. Halo is to MS what Mario was to the Nintendo.

this, and now gta 4 is big, final fantasy will be big, metal gear solid will be big, forza is big, and call of duty expanded A LOT on xbox 360!

I don't doubt that Halo was a giant part of the original xbox's life. It's likely that the xbox wouldn't what it is today without halo. But I don't think it wouldn't exist all together. Even without halo, I don't think the original xbox would have failed.
