Forums - Microsoft - Assassins Creed sold 4,5 million on 360 and only 120k on Pc?

Well, I don't think overhyped selfrepetitive buggy game will really sell well on PC. I tried it by myself too and shaked my head while deleting the extended demo version.

Around the Network

PC games are mainly pirated, unless its WOW. This is why there is no profitability in PC's any longer, unless everything is digitally downloaded. The bulk of the profit is in consoles, being that the average cost of gaming today is over sixty million dollars.

PC games have the highest profit margin and lowest development costs in the entire industry. What matters is the profit and PC games are far more likely tto make a profit than console games. Why do you think that developers/publishers are embracing more and more PC gaming? PC now has more games being developed than all consoles combined, and even Square-Enix announced there's as many PC games being made by them as X360 or PS3 games.

First and foremost, he said 8 million copies were sold, that means 8 million copies that the company could track by shipments. This does not include steam or other digital downloads service.
Furthermore it is in the companies best interest to release games and software on the pc, becasue they use the pc to make that said game. Why would they not want more sales, 120,000 for a game they already had made on the pc and could sell it for about 35 average, sounds like a increase in revenue for no cost for them, well little cost ( the case and discs and internet based advertising)
This does not hurt the software companies as it does microsoft, sony, and nintendo, as people could get the game off the pc instead of buying it on the console.
Also, against what many people believe, piracy is the best way for a company to improve their games and their software. This is because most pirates are more educated on whatever os they use, than common people. Also many pirates list what is wrong with the game and what they should improve in order for them to buy it. One example of this is Microsoft, they release copies of their beta or rc os to pirates as it is the best and cheapest way for them to advertise. They also get feedback of what to improve in their os.
Yes piracy is a bad thing at times but there are ways to use piracy to make better games and to increase sale in a future point.

I think AC II will only sell a couple million at most compared to 8 million. The original wasn't very good.
