^lol seece, I luv u
but those upgrades on video cards makes sick money out of those pirates.
One question, though. Why should MS care? More piracy on Windows means more users locked in with their OS.
And if developers go too close to the breaking point, risking the business and thus the appeal of the ecosystem, MS can offer migration or extension to the Xbox platform where the developers make them more money. Looks like win/win to me.

If the copy protection is Windows only then it essentially means that Linux and MacOS would be completely cut out of the DRM protection/enabling chain. Only Microsoft can implement DirectX. It would help developers and probably cut off Linux and MacOS, more the former and less the latter. If they cannot run the game on Linux then they probably can't pirate it on Linux either.
It also keeps developers using DirectX APIs rather than custom APIs/languages as it would offer their I.P automatic protection as well.
Tease.
Squill, how many PC games have you bought (as in payed for, original games, not pirated)?

Most games are Pc and 360. People usualy pay for a 360 game, but most people pirate Pc games.
So...the ones that are losing are 360 players, while Pc players can download everything they want for free.
I really don`t know why MS allows Pc piracy like this ,they are just losing 360 sales and not gaining anything when someone pirates a "games for windows Live" game.

Sorry but I don't understand what "only MS can implement DirectX" means. GPU drivers under Linux implement OpenGL, not DirectX, and the translation to run DirectX software is due to the WINE layer ie out of MS' control.

When i edited I forgot to put back the part about my being ignoranty.

I'm expecting some strong anti piracy solution to become widely available within the next 10 years.
The amount of money in play is too huge for such a thing not to happen.........
