Noone knows if it's actually going to happen though.

I wouldn't trust a refurbished product of any kind, but that's just me, I've had bad experiences with those.
As far as games, besides the ones you mentioned and only including exclusive titles, I would look at:

Warhawk

Motostorm 2

Valkyria Chronicles

Ratchet FTOD

Resistance

Resistance 2

Wipeout HD

SOCOM Confrotation

Singstar

Buzz Quiz TV

I would personally not bother with the 40GB and would get at least a 80GB one or even the 160GB which already comes with Uncharted.

i would not advise buying any of the 3 refurbed, only new.

mine is a 40 gig but i bought a 60 gig hd and works a treat, re: games theres plenty to choose from.

I think I may get a new 80GB PS3, as for the games I'm still trying to decide among at least two. Most likely Killzone 2 and MGS4.

Can't go wrong with those, I would also suggest getting Infamous right now as the game is superb and you get to play Uncharted 2 multiplayer beta.
LBP and Uncharted should see Greatest Hits this Holiday season so you could pick them up when they see a price drop.

Buy a new 80GB ps3, dont listen to the people saying there will be a price cut, its unlikely.

Id suggest you buy Uncharted drake's fortune, and Killzone 2, if you are a MGS fan switch killzone 2 for MGS4.

You should get atleast KZ2 MGS4 Uncharted and Infamous.

All must have games.

Another great game (kinda like gow but a little on the short end.. Also has great use of the sixaxis) is Heavenly Sword.

Go for 80gb. It doesn't cost much more and its double the size. Things to look out for....
-Make sure to hold on to the reciept for at least 30 days.
-Make sure the sytem given to you has all of it's ID stickers and barcodes. They will try not to take it back if you return it without those(even if they gave it to you that way).

first stop this slim rumors aint gonna happen this year.
buy it now . buy the 80gig model.
and buy this games:

resistance 1 and 2 (coop with a friend =great)
valquirya chronicles if you like srpgs
infamous (sandbox.i dont like sand box games but this one looks cool)
killzone 2 (download the demo first and try the controls.the game looks freaking amazing)
