Forums - Nintendo - I have my doubts about The Conduit's first sales

No point of reading the rest after reading that foul statement.

I don't understand this. You didn't cared to read of the post because a single damn line? That's not what the subject was about anyway! Foul? oh for god sake! GROW UP! is just a game!

The first Halo, let's face it, is very generic and a little mediocre. Even the visuals aren't that great, although they are good. Still the game managed to sell A LOT.

Wrong on so many levels its not even funny. When Halo 1 came out, it was the greatest looking game ever seen on a console. Its story was fantastic, the single player combat and quick and precise, and the multiplayer was great and competitive. You can talk trash about Halo 2 and 3, but Halo: Combat Evolved was in no way, shape or form mediocre.

Have you at least had the, I dunno, intelligence to read the rest of the thread?! That's not what was about! Geez!

I never got the big deal about local multiplayer so I don't really understand this.

Local Multiplayer was huge when broadband wasn't readilly available.

That's not the case anymore.

You took the example of Halo.
Well don't the majority of Halo3 MP games happen online these days ?( isn't it the most played online game on Live every week ?).
Not like it is that hard to get an online game going with buddies these days, and what's the difference between that and a LAN game ???

Yes it does, I know but believe it or not there are people that still plays their older Halos and many still play locally. That's why MS didn't took it off. Good games never get old, remember.

i never got halo like others, i liked 1 the best tho

but a lot of people love it, and its kind of an incediary line, so people will obviously go all crazy, out here on the internet

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

Wii Friend Code: 4094-4604-1880-6889

yeah first day sales may not be that great but i hope it hits 500k. it probably all depends on the strength of the marketing campaign but most importantly the retail presence. punchout has bombe din the UK because it wasnt seen as a big release and none of the stores ive been to even ahd the game on display. madworld, overkill and little king story are all shown but punchout isnt

What I was saying is that many games that do not support local multiplayers allow you to simulate it seamlessly online.

It's very easy these days to create a game that only your buddies can join online and the progress in broadband make it as good as LAN games were 5-10 years ago....( except you can actually decide to let others join or not if you and your buddies think you want more ppls into the game)

So LAN games is really a feature of the past....

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

500k is guaranteed. We are unsure of the game's success, but there is no need to be this paranoid.

When I bought my Wii, I got Red Steel. I bought it for the sole reason that was the "best" FPS the Wii had to offer at the time and the game itself (swordfighting) intrigued me. I got RE4 along with it, and although the latter had perfect controls, the former was original and had SO much potential control-wise.

HOWEVER, I never played multiplayer for it. It only had 2 players anyways, so I looked elsewhere for multiplayer. At least for The Conduit has what RS didn't and the graphics are great to boot. Plus, it has online!

So in my case, lack of local multiplayer isn't a problem. Plus,as The Grinder proves, HVS has enough knowledge with Wii architecture now that they can get local multiplayer. So when TC 2 comes out (if it ever does, in 2011 or something) that will have it.

Finally, HVS has worked way too hard and has buttered me up too much to not get my $49.99

Wait, what only had 2 players? Red Steel had 4 player multiplayer. And despite the game being a bit buggy, multiplayer was sometimes a blast with 3 friends.

I would have to respectfully disagree. Yes they have done a lot to bring the local experience to online, but it is still not equal to it. I would prefer a game have both choices, but local is still my primary choice when available.

As to the topic, I'm really not sure how it will do at first. It also depends on how many copies are made and what the distribution is. I am hopeful that it will start out relatively strong and continue selling well for at least a little while, but I don't expect it to explode in sales initially.

The thing is, I only have 2 WiiMotes.

I agree with the sentiment that local multiplayer is a very important part of a game like conduit.

However, its not a do or die portion. Would it have sold better with it, definitely, will conduit still sell well and easily warrant a sequel, absolutely.

I fully feel Conduit will sell >1m copies which should be considered a win for a new IP.
