I really dont see no local multi being a problem for the most part. Ive never cared for split screen...makes everything hard to see..and then you have the "HEY stop looking at my screen!" crap. Sure it would have been a nice additive for The Conduit...but taking away from the graphics would have been going against what HVS went after in the first place.
I think people seeing the conduit at a friends house will want to play and be forced to take turns...then later they'll go out and get their own game and play with their friends in full screen awesomness gloriousness! which will give more sales to the conduit!!! bwahaha!
@Wykyu - when people have fun, they don't care if the screen is divided or if they have tp take their whole equipment to another place. I still know many people that keeps playing their Goldeneye and with normal TV's. They don't mind the archaic graphics or the small portion of the screen because they still have fun.
I know that it will sell to many people that won't mind it (around 1million more or less) but I guess it could sell much better with LM.
I agree bobbuffalo.
There's a ton of games I want this month, TW, GST (or VT), REA, Let's Tap, Indiana Jones aTSoK, The Conduit and EA Sport Active. Obviously I won't get them all so some have to give.
I'm really very keen on The Conduit but also on Indiana and one of the Tennis games (Tiger is preordered). If Conduit had local multiplayer and especially split-screen online that would definitely seal the deal as I could play together with my son but without it I already have CoDWaW which is great online FPS so I'm leaning more towards Indiana Jones (which also has 2 player local) or a tennis game.
I'm sure I'm not the only one in this boat. Wii is a family system and people want to be able to play together.
BTW - QoS (007) also has great split-screen multiplayer & online but the single player campaign is an unfinished and buggy affair. I'll pick this up once the price drops.
If the Conduit is to sell gangbusters then it would be built around multiplayer. That isn't to say the game wasn't done very well, because I don't know, I honestly haven't played it.
I'm Unamerica and you can too.

No argument there, fun is fun. But at the same time a lot people have fun playing online as well. Maybe it's just a plan to sell more copies, since each friend will need to buy it to play online rather than 4 people sharing at one person's house heh.
Yea I'm sure the one thing holding The Conduit being back is local multiplayer. Get over it people... there isn't some large cult out there only buying games because of local multiplayer.
The Conduit will probably do decent but the main thing holding it back is it is a new IP. Thus it has to go purely off hype and marketing. Even though marketing is good, that doesn't guarantee it to be a success. I don't think this game will take off like we would wish it to because I'm just not seeing the hype behind it completely yet.

very much agree...except with the hype thing. Madworld had some big hype and look what happened. Maybe it having some hype is better...allows itself to get into a decent amount of households..and then word of mouth and internet talk give it nice legs for several months.

Well legitimate hype. Internet hype is not hype... just the few overexploding it. Killzone 2 is a perfect example of that. The Conduit may have some legitimate internet hype but nothing really past that. Game is going to need a huge marketing campaign. Luckily they have been showing it off religiously at every major event and even have Ninty giving it some time and marketing. So hopefully around launch they will have a good marketing campaign both online and on television and within stores. Hopefully it'll pay off for them.
@zucas - That's not what I meant. Look at sales and gamers and you will find that when a game has local multiplayer it tends to have better recomenndations and sales. I am not saying it will fail because of it but won't be the huge sales maybe because of it.
And I haven't thought about the new IP issue...that 's true. But after people sees it and has it first impressions, the recommendation comes.
