Those spikes were also during the holiday seasons of 2007 and 2008.

Now THIS is a more reasonable explanation, Outlaw. There's no question that plays an effect. That's also when the bundle occured (directly following), so it's very difficult to say. We can all agree the games were bundled and that it unquestionably sold more copies as a consequence, yes? Because it's importnat to note that games with similar sales that were never bundled with the PS3 (Soul Calibur, Army of Two, Burnout Paradise, Far Cry 2, and several others) had significantly stubbier legs than Heavenly Sword, Ratchet, and Uncharted, all of which were bundled at one point or another. You can say this is a coincidence -- and of course it's possible -- but that seems very unlikely.

Those two games are not a good indication for inFamous but we shall see. Then again the OP thinks FFXIII Versus will not do 1 million in Japan due to not being a flag-ship title so he can be forgiven for being confused.

Ratchet and Clank and Heavenly Sword were both bundled with the PS3 at different times.

Without those bundles, I'm not sure either game would have made it (particularly Heavenly Sword). It really depends on whether Sony bites the bullet and puts the game in a bundle.

They were only bundled in Europe for a small amount of time.

Look at their sales history: it's very clear when their bundle began, because sales spiked up very suddenly. Here's Heavenly Sword:

http://www.vgchartz.com/swlaunch.php?reg1=All&game1=Heavenly+Sword+-+PS3&reg2=All&game2=&reg3=All&game3=&weeks=100&weekly=1

It's difficult to know how long the bundles lasted, because it's entirely plausible that, 4 weeks after the promotion, the game was still in unsold PS3 boxes that were produced during the offer but had not yet been sold.

Pretty clearly this has a noticable effect, Outlaw. Therefore, it is reasonable to conclude that this game will definitely make it if it is bundled, but may not make it if it doesn't. It still could, but may not. Army of Two is a reasonable comparison:

http://vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=13641&region=All

This was a game that was never bundled with the system and started with comparable first week sales of 160k. It is now currently at .85 million. With slightly higher initial sales (about 12% higher) inFamous could make it without any help, but it may not.

Heavenly Sword or Ratchet were never officially bundled in the US and had limited bundled in PAL. That's a fact.

I wonder how many copies of the game was shipped.

Check out my game about moles ^

I didn't argue otherwise. If they had been bundled for long periods worldwide, they'd be closer to Motorstorm (3 Million) instead of stuck at the 1.0-1.5 million range. So we agree they were bundled for some time period in a major region, and this must have had SOME effect? Yes? Good.

Well, they're first party titles that are also of high quality. That plays into effect.

Looking through the US sales during the two seasons, sales got over 10k towards the end of December 2008.

So, yes bundles played an effect in Europe but the effects of said bundles are exagerrated. (not by you I will say)

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Check out MyAnimeList and my Game Collection. Owner of the 5 millionth post.

I beat the game 3 times and got my Platinum, so obviously it's doing something right and it has great word of mouth, I think for a new IP, it's doing great!!!

FOREVER IN DARKNESS!!!

Why is SkyNet wearing a PS3 Logo???

so it had a better a week than some games that reached a million. it also had a worse first week than some games which didnt reach a million. 1 million is probably but not guarenteed, i think it depends on how long the bundles carry on for

nintendo fanboy, but the good kind

proud soldier of nintopia

Many games sell a million. If this game sells 3+ million though I would be impressed. edit: excluding bundling ofcourse

That's a little pressumptious of you to think that I agree with you because I don't. The effect was negligible at best....soon enough you're gonna tell me that Uncharted wouldn't be close to 2 million if it wasn't for bundles.
