I got it on NDS on friday (the remake).

Well my dad got it on the way home. So I've been addicted to it for over the whole weekend.

I went in thinking it was going to be mediocre, hard & boring. WOW how wrong could I have been!

Lets start with the Story:

WOW @ the story.....its not the most deep, or confusing story, its simple (so far anyway) & effective.

The characters shine out as the true icing on the cake that is the story. Each character is fantastic, you care for them, they each have a short backstory (nothing to long & tedious). None of them are annoying (no not even the twins, they were great comic relief.....but turned out very mature as they sacrificed themselves).

I don't know how far I am through the story but I am the point where I need to go into the magnetic cabin after the elf who stole the earth crystal.

Maybe halfway through, so I guess there's more scope for character development, because unfortunately Rosa & Cecil seem a bit underdeveloped ATM.....being main characters I expected more. (but compared to that looser cloud they are much better)

Lets move on to the Music:

This is the BEST Soundtrack to grace a Final Fantasy EVER! (yes better than FF6)

Why you may ask......It makes you feel like you are ON an adventure.

Right from the start, the red wings theme was epic, but still I wasn't to impressed. But then when I went to the overworld map....WOW

I don't know what the power of that theme tune is, but it filled me with a sense of adventure & a sense of living my own fantasy.....every part of the tune was fabulous, it DEFINED what living your own FINAL FANTASY meant

Now this was a shock, because whenever I hear about FF soundtracks I always saw two sides:

FF7 IS THE BEST FF SOUNDTRACKZ EVAAAAA....!!111!! ONE WINGED ANGELZ FTW!!!!

vs (with a few FF9 fans in between)

FF6 HAS THE BEST SOUNDTRACK EVER.....OLD FF's FTWZ!!!

Sorry but that overworld theme tune alone destroys one winged angel & Terra's theme from FF6 combined together!

so could the game beat this piece of music, well it almost did

At the point in the game there was a REAL sense of urgency......this airship theme depicts the feeling int he game at that point in the BEST WAY POSSIBLE!

Thats when FF4 won me over completely, it was the ONLY final fantasy which shockingly lived upto its name & the meaning of it "FINAL FANTASY"

Battle System:

Well, not much to say here. ATB FTW!

Its fun to play the game, but to me the battle system wasn't something path breaking (it may have been at the time).

So Overall, FF4 for me is the Best Final Fantasy EVER!

Its fabulous story, fantastic music & gameplay all combine together to make the best "Final Fantasy" game. It achieves this by being simple, concise & not to confusing. A great place to start for people wanting to try out the FF series.

I am shocked the FF3 remake has outsold it by a large margin!

Destroys Terra's theme... yeah, sure, darth XD

The best FF soundtack is in FF IX. Forever and always!

Yup, Terra's theme was depressing........very good but not suitable for the overworld map

FF4's overworld theme filled you with adrenaline!

The game's very difficult though in parts.......

FF9's soundtrack was better than FF7 & FF8's.

But FF4 took the cake....its 17 years old now!

I agree. I like FF4 the best too, granted I've only played 1-6 and can't bring myself to play any more. However, because I liked 4 so much I'm thinking of buying Final Fantasy IV: The After Years on WiiWare.

FF9 has the best overworld map theme from FF

The soundtrack is too repetative and boring IMO... but the battle theme is terrific.

Also, Terra's theme is very adventurous and uplifting... how can it deperess, I dunno!

Very true FF4 is my first FF and its the best FF and one of the best of all time

its too slow.....its obe of the best themes ever in VGM but, FF4's overworld theme makes you feel like your on a your first adventure!

WOW cool.....but have you seriously not tried 7 - 12?

You never played FFVI, right? Sure... FFIV is very good (third best FF after IX and, of course, VI)... but not a maximum masterpiece as FFVI.

FF6 was my first FF.

FF6 is fabulous ofcourse, but FF4 is a notch above that imo.

I am shocked that FF7,FF8 & FF9 really pale in comparison, what happened to S-E!
