So now Nintendo is trying to attract upstreamed gamers with upstream games to get them to eventually downstream into Wii Sports and Wii Fit. Interesting. I don't think we can use the trout analogy anymore though.

We can reach that consumer with games like The Conduit or Tiger Woods with Wii MotionPlus. I can't believe that no one picked up on Reggie's jab at the fanboys who suddenly switched their thoughts on motion control. Basically he is saying "If you now like the idea of motion control, come play games that have it NOW." Mike from Morgantown |
Yea too bad it's pretty poorly executed.
On that note let me say..
Kaz has... A NEW CHALLENGER !
FIGHT ! :P

I agree with Dazkarieh. If you had said excellent controls and multiplayer, that would make a lot of sense. Halo was never the prettiest game and the story is 'Masterchief shoots aliens'. Halo = fun multiplayer.

That is so epic.

Actually Reggie isn't far off, a lot of "core" gamers have purchased games like Wii fit and many will end up purchasing Wii Sports Resort. Also capturing the Halo market doesn't mean getting people to abandon their 360's for Wii's, but a lot of gamers who have a 360 or a PS3, but not a Wii yet, may be attracted by games like the conduit to the Wii as their second console, and from their will probably end up purchasing Wii fit and the like to use with their family and firends who may not be "core" gamers like themselves
Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)
lets put it this way I have both a 360 and a Wii as do most of my friends. The xbox 360 is the system of choice in all of these households including mine because it is just a way better experience. The Wii rarely even comes out anymore except for large parties. Mario kart believe it or not is probably the best party game when you want to have fun with all the hot chicks at the party.
Nintendo needs to only worry about what Nintendo does best and that is coming up with innovative games, and refreshing favorite franchises. Most of the hardcore also own a Wii. And most of the hardcore are waiting for another Zelda.
