After watching a number of videos it appears that Wii Sports Resort makes the original obsolete, in terms of gameplay, variety, & depth. I'm guessing that Nintendo's next move will be to bundle WSR with the console rather than take a price cut. If that happens, & assuming a good chunk of current Wii owners buy the game for MP+, say 30-60% (15-30M units), then it's more or less a lock on becoming the best selling game of all time.

I don't think so, but good luck with your prediction. It's not that far-fetched.

I don't think that's a reasonable assumption. They surely will bundle Wii Sports Resort with the Wii at some point, but I don't think they'll remove Wii Sports.

A better prediction would be to expect it to beat every game other than Wii Sports. That still wouldn't happen, plenty of people will choose Tiger Woods, Red Steel 2 etc. for their Wii M+ bundle instead of Wii Sports Resort.

It's a prediction with some weight to it. There's bound to be a time when Nintendo begins to either ship the WM+ with the Wii or build it right in to the Wiimote. But that might be a while off yet.

If they do swap out the bundle entirely, they won't drop Wii Sports, and more than likely bundle it seperately with a controller like they do with Wii Play.

If they do make a bundle with WSR, then I would imagine it still keeps WS in there anyway, or perhaps do some combinations with say, Wii+WS at a cut price ($200) then 2 seperate bundles both with WS included, but one with Wii Fit (or WF+) and the other with WSR... both at $250. (or if one has WF+ instead of WF then it may be slightly more, as balance board > than WM+)

Either way... WSR wil never manage WS numbers. In the very best scenario for it, it could pass Wii Play and/or Wii Fit, but I highly doubt it.... in fact the likely scenario I see will involve it being round about Mario Kart Wii figures, so it may not even beat that.

And if it does poorly, I still see it passing 10 million, it would have to be a real bomb to not make 10 million..... which shows how huge this game is (bigger than GTA franchise IMO)

WSR will have a very good opening day, no doubt. Then, once people actually get a chance to see what this 1:1 they've been clamoring for actually does for gaming, the backlash will begin.

It'll be the best selling game this year easily but unless they remove Wii Sports and replace it with Resort.. I don't think it be the best selling game of all time..

It could however beat Wii Fit if it really takes off!

Say Wii Fit sells 200K/week for that period (that's pessimistic). That leaves it at 7.2M for the year so far. Wii Fit has a 7.200.000 lead over Wii Sports Resort (for the year)

WSR has 4.5 months of sales. There's no way it's going to sell 13M in that period. Heck, even beating Mario Kart Wii (around 8-9 million) should be tough.

To me, the inclusion of Bowling in WSR is a give-away that Nintendo intends to replace WS as a pack-in game. So why is Tennis & Baseball not included? I think because of competing first-party software.

Logically, if Nintendo wants MP+ to become standard then they'll pack it in with new hardware. The fact that MS & Sony are now getting into the "movement" makes that a priority. And in addition, Nintendo is simply scared to lower the cost of the Wii because of the crappiness of the dollar. So it's better to reposition the Wii to the public as an "improved" product.

They will sell plenty of Wii Sport Ressort so why would they bundle it ???
