Forums - Sony - Just got FFVII Advent Children Complete on blu-ray

I had seen the movie year ago when it first came out and remembered it being cool, so I figured I'd go ahead and get the blu-ray version with bonus footage and FFXIII preview.

Damn that movie sucks. It wasn't nearly as good as I remembered it. The action sequences are pretty cool, but the writing is so god-awful. "I got you a present cloud....shall I give you....despair?" I mean what the fuck is that? It doesn't even make sense. Or Sephiroth cuts a building in half and says "Down on your knees cloud, I want you to beg for forgiveness". Who wrote this? Within the context of what's going on on screen, or the story this makes no sense. All of the dialogue is C grade anime writing, stuff you expect to hear in filler episodes of Naruto or Dragon Ball Z. I can't believe that I enjoyed this movie at any point in the past, maybe I was drunk or something I don't know.

The animation isn't as good as I remember it either. The character models look really good, but the animation is often times awkward, or clearly incorrect. Especially when they are on motorcycles and it looks like they are floating sideways on the ground rather than actually having some kind of traction and rolling ontop of the ground. It looks like the models aren't interacting with the environment or each other properly, and looks very awkward.

But damn, Final Fantasy XIII looks spectacular. It's the first time I've seen it running on my HD TV and it looks astounding. I wish we had gotten a demo instead of just a video preview, but oh well. Maybe we'll get a downloadable through the PSN in the future. But my god that game looks gorgeous. The cutscenes looked better than advent children and the gameplay was only a marginal step down from the cut scenes. That game is beyond gorgeous. Hopefully the writing and acting will be better than advent children.

The demo for the game made me want to keep playing and i was one of the people that thought the game was going to be a hell of a lot worse than the usual FF game! I recommend buying it and giving the game a go, then again it does make and footage that you see pointless since you know what it is going to look like lol

What are u talking bout, Advent Children was great!! but if u didn't read the intro stories before watching it i guess that's ur fault.

Yeah, because if I looked at the intro stories first the writing suddenly wouldn't suck.

LMAO Clever.

I was thinking of streaming this on Netflix via my 360. Is it worth my time?

Personally, I decided against buying it when they did not include the demo with the disc

If you like FFVII then I would say it's at least worth a watch as long as you go in with proper expectations. There is alot of fan service and some cool action scenes, and some of the CG is really superb. But it does have really bad writing, lags on at some points, poor acting (both voice and just the body movements and facial expressions), and is cheesy in general. But again if you like FFVII there is still something to be enjoyed.

I never minded any of the stuff you listed, man.

Thanx, I'll probably pass and just check out the Full Metal Alchemist movie instead.
