Forums - Sony - PSP Go Reception by VGC Community Members

I'd thought it be a good idea to discuss how PSP-Go is now seen as a great deal (minus the price of course) by a lot of Sony fans here in this community. What has been confusing though, it is that all of the sudden downloading full fledge games is totally ok with these fans. I don't know if you recall but back when Blu-Ray  won the format war many 360 supporters acknowledge that MS true vision was downloadable content, yet many criticised it and claimed that "People would not go with a console with download only, they want a physical copy of the game." Well, now I ask you potential PSP-Go buyers that might've disagree with MS vision.... why the change of heart?

so you're going to just try calling people hypocrites without looking up any kind of posting histories. Or do you want people to talk into this thread and tell you about how they are hypocrites. Honestly, find a person who did this, just one.

...

I'm very interested in it.

I'll have to see more before I'm convinced.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Well, times change, and if you said DD hasn't moved an inch since back then, this would end up a sad discussion.

There is of course a major difference between the PS360 and the PSP, which is that the PSP is portable, meaning having all your games for on the actual console is quite an advantage compared to dragging your entire UMD library around.

For the home consoles, I don't think a PSP Go! model is viable yet, but we're certainly moving in the direction where DD of all retail games become possible, even though I don't know how this will turn out in terms of game size vs. storage.

And for the record, the only thing about the Go! I don't like is the price point, and swaying my mind will depend on controls and comfort of use.

I would buy one if it wasn't so much more expensive. I have someone who'd be willing to pay almost full price for my PSP (2000), and I could put that towards a PSP GO, but I don't want to spend another hundred dollars for a system I already own.

Like Rainbird said, portability is the big thing with this; it would be great to have a smaller handheld and have all of my games stored on the PSP itself. Plus without the UMD, there's a possibility that the battery life is longer. We don't know that for sure yet, though.

I'd also like to add that I was never a huge supporter of blu-ray on the PS3; it's nice to have and I do enjoy it, but I don't think that it was necessarily needed. Changing discs every once in a while won't kill me, and if I'm too lazy to get up and change a disc in the first place, then I probably have other problems.

well if i owned a PSP I would say too expensive, smaller screen and can't play my old hard games on it. Unless you can somehow register them online and then download them to new system I would have to keep my old psp for them.

so same reason not buying DSi, my DSlite is better for me. well not same reason, DSi different reasons, but still same. Older version better imo

This isn't exactly a confirmation, but it does sound like something might be in the works for this. I totally agree with the too expensive part! Why pay $80 (USD) extra for basically the same machine?

so you generalize all SONY fans, insult them & make a flamebait thread.

You might want to check out this thread for more of an unbiased view of the PSP GO!

Dude, that there is as biased as any other opinion on Go! out there.

The portable market is much different than the home console market. Portables benefit from everything being digital. You don't have to carry extra stuff with you when you go somewhere.
