I'm curious how the "biggest" PC game of the year did at retail on its 1st day.

ioi/mods is vg chartz tracking it (obviously vg chartz doesn't track PC games, but do we have any indication of how the 1st day went)

also all of you replying, just write what you observed when/if you went into stores, were people buying The Sims 3?

umm.... I expect a total sell out and it selling over a million copies first day or two.

All I know is if I wanted a copy I should have got it Tuesday because every store around is sold out.

Well, I'll make a VERY rough estimate. But better than nothing

Spore, according to this, was pirated 1.700.000 times http://torrentfreak.com/top-10-most-pirated-games-of-2008-081204/

Using the data of a private tracker, it was downloaded 7.425 times from there

So, the multiplier is around 229

From the same tracker, The Sims 3 was downloaded 2.911 times

Using the same multiplier, that would put the number of times pirated in 650-700K.

Only a (very rough) estimation, but it may serve to put it on perspective

the figures doesnt matter as what was pirated early was a beta version.

Sims 2 basegame ALONE sold 13 million according to Wikipedia.

It sold much more than that because the 13 million figure is very old (from July 2007) and there's also the digital sales that usually aren't included.
