If I sit on my couch even with a wireless kb&m, its still kinda awkward. A big issue for me is the vanishing support for traditional joysticks in PC games. I was really disappointed with id's decision to not allow for joystick configuration for Quake 4. As said earlier, I use a gamecube usb adapter so I can rig the left side of my GC controller, and a mouse in the right hand. Its as close to a HD Wii experience as one can get. While Im sure there are ways to make this wireless, the issue is that the games themselves are starting to do away with control mapping, at least some of the big ones. For example, if RE5 doesn't allow for control mapping, then Im stuck with their input method, which can make for a lousy experience. With a console, I can have my controller and be a lazy blob on the couch. BTW, couch potato gamer challenge for all - Take any game you beat, then replay it, sitting upside down on the couch. ![]() |
if i'm not wrong, MATX casing is not upgrade friendly for PSUs(bcos it's quite small hence bigger more powerful PSUs cant fit)..especially if maybe in the future u want a better PSU to go for higher end gfx card/processor/RAMs..so it's not that worth it IMHO

Also, my PC costs like 2,000 dollars. You think I'm gonna let mom touch it, even to put in a Blu-Ray? Next, what am I supposed to play on my computer? All the good games have securom. Also, all the exclusive games are on consoles now. There is no first party for the computer. Finally, I like to play games on a controller, but I can't exactly boot games up without my mouse and keyboard. It's unacceptable to have to change input methods. Also, do I have to buy a wireless mouse and keyboard? ...but wait, there's more. Do I expect everyone to have a 1000 dollar PC? They need one if they want to play HD games the way they are meant to be played. Ever try maxing out even old PC HD games with a duel core CPU? Bottleneck like a mug. Can't upgrade a CPU. In fact, most people can't upgrade a PC. That said, yeah, it is possible to move my PC into the living room. Landing on the moon is also possible, but it is a hell of a lot more trouble than doing absolutely nothing, which is what a console requires. Also a hell of a lot more expensive, and requires a hell of a lot more training, and infinite knowledge. |
It's been over 10 years since I've seen a $2000 PC at retail store. Right now 90% of PCs being sold are well below $1000. Times have changed.
So your problem is that you don't want your mom to catch you with the porn?! Blu-Ray is a non-factor when there's Digital Distribution for PC.
You really don't know what you're talking about, do you? Securom has several levels of DRM degrees, and the far majority of games with Securom use it just as a Disc-Check, nothing more, and no online check. Infact, after the recent negativity towards DRM, all publishers like EA, Ubisoft and THQ completely stopped using online checks, and now are only using Disc-checks,
95% of Desktop PCs are below $1000, it's so freaking cheap right now. With $1000 you would be able to buy an incredible machine that would last you for atleast 10 years without upgrades.
Dude, Onlive is releasing a micro-console that plays PC games, consoles can't beat that. It's even tinier than the Wii.

I'm sure they will, probably after their 360 counterparts, and almost certainly containing some sort of malicious spyware that will cause everyone on amazon to rate the game as a 1/5, and also cause the only people who play it to be Internet theives, and finally cost at least 1000 dollars to buy a PC capable of playing it as it was meant to be played, which can be emulated on a 199 360 1 year prior to its epic PC release, which PC fans will do nothing but complain about. |
Splinter Cell 5 should come out same day as Xbox 360, while AC2 will come a few months later with extra stuff, like the first one (the PC version had several new missions). None of them will use intrusive DRM because publishers have learned that PC gamers don't want it, and Ubisoft, EA, etc... have stopped using draconian DRM completely. The Sims 3 only has a disc check, Prince of Persia didn't even have any protection (not even a disc check), etc... yeah, you are a few months behind on the news.
The requirements of PC games will only keep decreasing. Crysis Warhead has lesser requirements than Crysis, yet Crysis was incredibly optimized. Prince of Persia can be played on a 6 years old PC, Street Fighter 4 will be playable on a PC with a fucking Pentium 4 2.0Ghz, a 7 years old CPU.
Besides, it's not like there's not enough PC games around for you to be entertained, I mean, Starcraft 2 is coming out late this year, Diablo 3 scheduled for March 2010, there's so many fucking great PC games that I even stopped my Wii and eventually gave it away because I no longer used it.

You can use a gamepad, pretty much any Pc game nowadays allows you to play with a gamepad(unless the game's controls can't be emulated on a gamepad). And again, you can just buy keyboard that are specific for gaming on your lap. there are several gaming Kbs and mice for various situations.
Now you people went and got shio started.
On Topic: I welcome you to the Fraternity!

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Achievements > PC. 0.1% Cheaters > 30% Cheaters. Graphics not that big difference to me. I used to be hardcore gamer but those two things turned me over to console. I have plenty gaming mice too. Sure, I'll play single player PC games that are not on my xbox from time to time.

Don86 - Understood about Small form, this one was designed for gaming - 500W PSU, definitely enough to rock out the high end vidcards, fans, etc.
axumblade - It beats me. I was pretty irritated when I found that I had to use a homebrew mapping system for the games, they never work well. The one thing I can complain about Q4 with. As for RE games on the PC, rumor has it they've not had any mouse support thus far.
shio - Theres quite a few games now that just totally ignore gamepad use, like Quake 4, Doom 3 (yeah id stuff), I was disheartened to not be able to use my unique input system
