Now, seriously? Why do PS3 fans have to use the Halo slogan? There are other words besides believe that can be used.

Trust? Have Faith? I mean these words would be more neutral than believe and get the point across better.

You're a smart guy..and I respect that, but you can't trust in something that can't betray you, and faith is a bit too extreme. But a person can believe in anything. Anything at all...people used to believe the world was flat, that there was a god (Helios) carrying the sun back and forth. A person can believe in himself, or someone else. Believe is about as neutral as it gets.

To me the words are pretty much interchangeable. Faith = belief = trust to some extent. How can you for example believe in something that can never betray you? What kind of statement is 'My toaster will warm the bread... B_E_L_I_E_V_E?

Tease.

Pschology wise the more you need to convince people; by telling them to BELIEVE; in your statement. Is a sentiment of insecuring. This is essentialy the mentality of a boy/girlfriend constantly calling the other where they are, I still love you, do you still love me. The persistent outward request or insistence isn't the sign of security.

A secure sign would be the type of person who is ok that the boy/girl friend still enjoys the company of the other gender. They don't need to constantly call to insist or request. The KNOW better.

Like I said. Telling people that a low important object is the future isn't important. Telling people that the world is going to end is. VG are low importance. So why tell us.

Instead of saying "PLAYSTATION®3 is the future......NOW.......B_E_L_I_E_V_E"
How about saying "I love my PLAYSTATION®3 and my PLAYSTATION®3 loves you too"
Still insecure, but less offensive, just more sappy.

"I love my PLAYSTATION®3 and my PLAYSTATION®3 loves you too" That sounds pretty creepy...nevertheless...I don't see why people dislike it so much. If you don't like it, then don't read it. It's like people saying "I don't like chocolate...it will make me fat"...then eating the damn chocolate. I think we should all unite on that. All those people who say one thing (like the chocolate example)....then do it anyway.

Lol. My toaster will warm the bread...Believe. That is actually really funny. You could say that...what if you were talking to an Amish person?

I guess my ironic insulting was overlooked... My point is "why so sensitive?"

If you jump on the bandwaggon and put a silly line in your sig that lumps you in with the type of people that are calling for the PS3 to pass the Wii in total sales this year, expect to be treated like you're a bit "special" at best, and a delusional social reject at worst.

Get over it or change your sig.

1. There are many ironic sigs out there (yours included), but these are directly insulting.

2. Or, if I don't agree with your point of wiew, which is allowed, I chose to fight this stuff instead of changing my sig. How about that?

1. Do these sigs directly call you out, or just the dumb, fanboy slogan?

2. If you're "choosing to fight this stuff" on the internet, that may be saying even more about you than your signature...

Sorry to offend people who have the slogan in their sigs but my honest appraisal is I consider people who use it to be not only fanboys generally, but brainless sheep blindly following the moronic chap in front of them. You're entitled to your opinion of course just as I am to mine, if you don't mind people looking at your sig then making pre judgements thats fine.

Well, evidence and debate aside, I'm saying that the attack must not be agressive and personal/negative. Wouldn't you agree? Why not?

Personal attacks shouldn't be allowed on any forum yet this site is way too lenient on people.

@CGI - I don't insult people who have the sig, I generally just look at what they type on here and the sig confirms the fanboys.  Like I said if you don't have an issue with many people pre judging you as a fanboy then put it in your sig like the rest of the flock.

Flock? Nobody forced them to put the sig. Calling people flock also sounds like a personal attack...you are saying that they can't think for themselves...and need other people to tell them what to say and write...when it's not the case

Calling people sheep for copying each other in some endeavour to annoy other forum users is not a personal insult, I think you need to grow up and stop with the "mummy he said something mean attitude".

I think this same logic needs to be applied to those who take an internet slogan (that ISN'T insulting) too seriously.

I'm still missing something...  Are there people offended by the statement, or are there people with the statement in their sig offended that people are saying the statement is stupid, or is this thread about a few specific individuals calling the original poster stupid for having th estatement in his sig?

I think 3 things are given in this discussion:

-The statement is stupid, but harmless

-People thinking the statement is stupid is harmless, so being offended by that is stupid

-People calling people that put the statement in their sig is stupid, but harmless, so getting offended by their harmless jabs is stupid.

With those as generally accepted, shouldn't the conclusion to this whole thread be " this is all stupid and harmless," aka "welcome to the internet?"
