Forums - Nintendo - after 2 and 1/2 years, why all the Wii hate still?

First off, don't argue it- the Wii really doesn't have tons of great games like the 360 and PS3. As a Nintendo fanboy, it really makes me angry. When I walk into GameStop, Best Buy, etc, it really pisses me off to see 90% of the stuff is shovelware and crap. It pisses me off more than most companies treat the Wii as a toy like Capcom, Square-Enix, etc. People have the right to make fun of the console for some stuff...

But people act like there are NO good games on the Wii at all, and that the Wii isn't capeable of anything but excersive games. Though very few companies have attempted to make quality games on the system, there ARE a few great games. No, they're not all perfect, but they're still great games.

Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Brothers Brawl, No More Heroes, NMH2, Madworld, Fire Emblem:RD, Metroid Prime 3, Animal Crossing: City Folk, Wario Kart Wii, de Blob, Wario Land:SI, Punch Out!!, LoZ:TP, and only a handful more.

Not to mention the Wii DOES great have games like Rock Band, Resident Evil 4, etc. that are on other consoles too but are just as good for the Wii.

And now we have another Mario Galaxy, an amazing looking Metroid and another Zelda for the Wii coming up (+some 3rd party games, like the Grinder.) No, the Wii is far from the best console of all time, and really really lacks the amount of quality titles that other consoles have, but it isn't a bad console, nor it isn't Nintendo's fault that @sshole companies don't make quality games for the system.

So, when some topics come up like "Kingdom Hearts on the Wii," a game that would be perfect for the Wii, it really makes me angry that people would honestley think the game would suck JUST because it's on the Wii. There are games like MGS that would suck (or be worsened) because of the graphical capeabilities of the Wii, but there are some games that would work great on the system like Resident Evil and KH.

It really is something to behold.

The Wii can never win, even if God himself assisted in the development of the new Zelda.

So while the cynical graphics whores and narrow-minded "journalists" hate on it, people like you and I can enjoy this awesome system in Reality.

Simple. It doesn't do HD and people get all excited over shiny objects that they miss the substance behind the object.

that's why all the 'mature' teen gamers have to have ps360's and wii sucks and wii this / that ps360 is da bomb etc. Too focused on tech and shininess and less focused on content.

Don't even care to know about the mass of great Wii games existing and coming.

Now you're just being ridiculous. If you think all HD games are just shoeshining with no ''content'', then you're either crazy or just plain ignorant.

I partially agree. But I don't think the HD systems have more "great" games than the Wii. "Great" games are a matter of preference and opinion. Sure we can use critics scores to provide for some guidance, but I feel that most of the current critics are not being fair in their HD to Wii comparisons. Personally, the only game I wish the Wii had is RE5. Other than that I feel that each console deserves to have a handful of great exclusives, in order to keep a fanbase.

Its just, if you DON'T like games like Mario you have what, Metroid?Madworld?
Ok I had Wii for few weeks, and well I started to hate it since I had to change batterys on 2 days, it looked crappy on my Hd-tv, I liked only Res4,Zelda and that boxing game on it.
And it sells too much without reason, so why should Nintendo bother to make more other games than for casual.
Graah.

Take my love, take my land..

HD RULEZ!

Also, Wii Fit... and the other Wii Fingerer thingy yesterday, make the Wii a target.

No I don't think that. Maybe I didn't write my thoughts correctly.

What I meant was that since Wii games aren't HD they get ignored and ridiculed without actually checking them out. That is the problem and why Wii is still hated on.

I don't know but your sig reminds me of all the things I don't like about my PS3 (though there's lots to like).  Mainly, "press x to make cool animation on the screen happen"...  Not including the Six Axis, which I hate...

I love inFamous but there's no reason it couldn't have been done on PS2 with blockier models and pixelated textures. I love GT5 Prologue but there's nothing that couldn't have been done on PS2 with lower graphics. Killzone, same.  Heavenly Sword? They would have had to shorten her hair.  Etc. Etc. Etc.  MAG is 256 players of more of the same (from what I've seen so far).

Not to say that these games didn't have gameplay innovations, they did, it just had nothing to do with the graphical innovations (except maybe MAG).

But I am not going to call anybody wrong or ridiculous for preferring graphical innovation over gameplay innovation or vice versa.  To each there own.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

You wanna know the reason? It's not easy to create a great games using motion control. Here I'm talking about games that gamers love, immersive, epic, story driven, etc, I mean hell developers sometimes mess up traditional controls for games. So why not just come up with a simple shovelware game that uses generic waggle controls that will net you some cash that you can then use to develop games you really want to develop?
