Forums - Sony - Crytek to push the PS3 to the maximum!

They're saying that it'll run the same, because that's what devs strive for in multiplat development... this engine may put the PS3 to its limit, however, it's not a custom PS3 engine, which means it may not achieve the full potential that the hardware offers...

The only way to say that 360 = PS3 is by comparing custom engines. They are the ones that take full advantage of the hardware.

Actually its pretty custom. From what I recall it has the equivelent best practice for coding for the PC/PS3/360 built into the engine for most of the different functions.

Tease.

What´s the point? X360 = PS3 .

Only this.

The 360 don't have blu-ray or cell processor

The 360 is such a piece of shit, I heard that it doesn't have a processor at all.

Yes, its only got a food processor. Thats why the console gets red ring, I think Xbox 360 owners as a whole are too fond of tomato juice.

Processing wise, I can believe what he is saying. PS3 does laps around the 360 on the CPU side, and 360 does the same to the PS3 on the GPU side. What it really comes down to, and this is strickly a graphics argument, is memory. Now I am not saying 360 could not play games like Uncharted 2, Gran Turismo 5, Heavy Rain, or God of War, but I am saying that they can never match a truly PS3 pushing title graphics wise.

Developers internal to Sony have been using the Standard HDD in the PS3 to massivly increase the amount of data on screen at once. Naughty Dog has claimed to use up to 200MB of virtual RAM in the first Uncharted. With the quality of the textures, shades, shadows, and overall atmosphere of U2, I believe they have push this technique even further. The only reason this is possible on PS3 is because, they have a HDD on every system, and they have the storage capacity of Blu-ray.

As many people have said, these consoles do not lack in processing power. The only thing holding back the PS3 and 360 is memory, and well written code. The PS3 just has the oppertunity to deliver more data on screen, thanks to the decisions made by Sony.
