Mario galaxy 2 should outsell NSM Wii.

No. It just won't. That's the sad truth.

And it just goes to show that sales don't represent quality (not saying NSMB Wii will be bad, just that SMG 2 will be much, much better).

Now we are prejudging the quality of games that have been announced for less than 24 hours?  Wow.

Big budget, fully fledged 3D Mario made specifically for Wii and the sequel to the fifth best game of all time according to VGC users.

A handheld game pretending to be a console game.

OMG, it's so hard to choose!

wait wait wait WAIT !!!!

they announced 2 Super Mario games !!!!

man Nintendo are going old school with this

That's becouse those two first party games on Wii will suck sales from all the smaller releases while on HD front fight with Modern Warfare 2 and Bioshock 2 will be lot closer.

Nintendo sells more games than anyone else, I think that's just the bottom line.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_video_games#Top_20_console_games_of_all_time

That's the top 20 selling video games of all time (non bundled)

17 of the top 20 are Nintendo games.

I think NSMB Wii, Wii Fit Plus, and Wii Sports Resort will all end up in the top 15 best selling games of all time ... forget comparing it to just what's coming out this year.

Lets be honest

NSMB Wii + Wii Sports Resort > HALO 3 : ODST + Forza 3 + GT5 + FF14

not a troll thread at all.....but if we look at this in terms of "potential SALES"....Nintendo wins blindfolded....

personally I don't think those 2 wii titles deserve to outsell those other ones.....but it will happen

Will it help you sleep better at night if I said that could probably be true?

There's nothing really "sad" about that.

2D Mario are the roots of the franchise and perhaps even moreso the roots of Nintendo as a whole.

Lots of people identify and enjoy that style. It's easier to pick up and play also. Mario was always about being the game you could play, your sister could play, even your parents would try, but that sorta changed after the series went 3D.

Besides, it's not like SMG didn't sell great. At 8+ million copies and counting it has sold more than GoldenEye or Zelda: OoT on the N64 and more than any game on the GameCube. You are getting a sequel to both NSMB and SMG ... there's really not a lot of room for complaints on this front.

Bravo! Best piece of writing today. Those are true words.

How much do you reckon they will sell?

I'm at something ala

NSMB Wii - 10-14M

Wii Sports Resort - 8-12M

12 + 10M = 22M

Now, if you look at HALO 3 : ODST + Forza 3 + GT5 + FF14

I'd say that would sell something along the line of

Halo 3: ODST - 3-5M (?)

Forza 3 - 2-3M (?), depends on bundling.

GT5 - 8-10M

FF14 - 5-6M

4 + 3 + 9 + 5 = 21M

So by my "predictions" (don't know if I ought to call it that, but in lack of a better word, I will)

So essentially, I'd say it's dead on.

The real question is: Why would this shock you?

(I'm not counting Wii Sports nor Wii Play here, which gives Ps360 a somewhat large edge)

Best sellers in 2009: (So far)

Wii: 8.79M

Ps3: 3.76M

X360: 3.38M

Ps360 total: 7.14M

2008:

Ps360 top 2 on each: 19.85M

Wii's top 2: 25.7M

Wii's 2 + 3: 20.37M

So this shouldn't really be a surprise, should it? During the past year and a half, the top 2 Wii titles have equalled out the top 4 Ps360 titles. Why should the same not be the case at the biggest announcement fair of the year?

Wow, if predictions like this are now normal, the wii sure does print money.
