Lame.
Sorry, I was expecting more.
- Galaxy 2 is a no-brainer - basically a level pack.
- WiiFit+ is WiiFit 1.1
- Mario Bros Wii looked lame IMO - I'll get it, but it looks like someone rushed for a couple of weeks to slap it together. The Wii is capable (and deserves) so much more.
Pros:
- Metroid, esp Team Ninja was unexpected. I actually thought it looked cooler until I knew it was Metroid, but hey.
- Galaxy II - can't go wrong with more Galaxy (but not this year)
- WS:R looked cool
Cons:
- No Retro - again?
- No Zelda
- No Pikmin
- No new franchises
- No new hardware (sorry, the vitality thing does *not* count IMO)
- No Miyamoto
- Really don't like Cammie (why is she always scowling?)
- No surprises (apart from Metroid)
- No network/online functionality, nothing new there
- No slideshows of game compilations
- nothing outstanding for the DSi
- No surprise partnerships with Capcom, Konami, SQE, ...
- WS:R didn't look as cool as it could have
...
Looks to me, like Nintendo are playing it safe. They have this year sown up, and with the three potentially biggest Xmas sellers: WiiFit+, WiiSports, Wii MarioBros
...there is no need for them to do anything different.
I think they are also struggling to adapt their msg, now that MS & Sony have motion controllers - and since the marketing department upheaval in NOA.
...
In fact, I think this years E3 was *much worse* than last years from them. I sense a little desperation creeping in :P

I was surprised to see SMG2... In the IGN podcast thread, it was already suspected NSMB for Wii so I expected that and thought that would be the only Mario game coming...
Golden Sun 3 was a big surprise as well as the Metroid Gaiden game
The biggest surprise though is that no Miyamoto on stage at all!
MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.
what are you guys talking about? i didn't expect this much! i mean this is a super mario bros game were talking about here! AND mario galaxy 2, a sequel to what i consider my personal best game ever AND is literally the reason i bought a wii.
Imagine buying a console for one game and then i turns out you're getting the sequel to that game too! best thing EVA! also a surprise metroid was shown. and then on the DS there was a bunch of great stuff too :)
this was beyond awsome for me. i was expecting either a 2D mario OR a sequel to mario galaxy but not BOTH!!!! for me, this E3 was da best eva! this is also the first time i watch it live which was awsome!
Surprise is damn right!

Yeah. I'm not talking lineup for the year - talking "The E3 conference".
Last year, we got WM+ & WS:R. Animal Crossing, WiiMusic.
New hardware/controller, new IPs...
...
Replace WM+ with the vitality meter.
Replace new IPs with... no new IPs?
...
Don't get me wrong - I'm stoked that a new Galaxy is coming.
But Galaxy, WiiMarioBros, Metroid, WiiFit+ ... all basically semi-sequels/re-releases.
Obviously the Metroid looks interesting - but I need to see more before getting excited.
Golden Sun DS is probably the best announcement for me.

One word --
Mario.
Before SMG2 is just written off as a "level expansion pack" I would ask you to consider that EAD Tokyo will likely get another year to develop this at least with NSMB Wii probably selling for a long time to come.
So they have a loooooooooooooooot of time to polish the hell out of that and really make it a true sequel to Galaxy thanks to NSMB Wii. Just something to consider.
