The OP has a point. Kojima announced a megaton that most would swear up n down to be a Sony Excl, at a Microsoft event. That's big news especially considering that E3 is followed Worldwide.

Hey wait a minute.
First of all, thirdparties have no responsibility towards either Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo. They most likely go where the money is to be made.
Second, Microsoft bought themselves into Sony´s thirdpartysupport? Possibly, but what do you think Sony has been doing since they started all the way back with PS1? They sure as hell did "steal" a lot of thirdpartysupport from Nintendo after SNES.
Sony has in my opinion always been about hardwareprestanda, huge thirdpartysupport and succesful marketing. Now they have competition from Microsoft in this regard. They cater to the same market.
I think its very disrespectful ... he is going against the ninja ' death before dishonor ' ... should have been a ps3 exclusive ... id LAUGH if after E3 he says it was a joke, and laughed at M$ ... think that would be funny
Sega For Life - Gaming Died When Sega Died ... Sega <3
The nintendo before - ' wii release ' <3
Sega before ' Software Only ' <3
Anti M$ (Therefore anti 360) - im making it official ... Go play your meaningless FPS Games ...

Sony "stole" them with the use of other means. Superior technology and opportunities for third parties.
I don't feel comfortable with the way Kojima presented the new metal gear solid game. It's like those movies when the best player on the underdog team is persuaded to join the richer elite team despite the history he's had the the underdogs ( Sony wasn't always the underdog however), my respect for Kojima has gone down a little but I fully understand the situation,he wasn't the only decision maker.
But this is business and if Sony returns back to it's glory then Kojima will run back to the Sony train with hat in hand and again everyone else will get the left overs.

I never said he was answerable to Sony. And yes both Kojima and Sony have benefited from the relationship, Sony have had a great series of games that have sold well and Kojima has become the man he is because of the games he has made on Sony platforms. Of course its all down to money at the end of the day, but it's not like MGS games have been poor sellers on Sony platforms that they need to go multiplatform...the opposite actually...with over 4m sales of MGS4 on the PS3. |
If he isn't answerable to Sony then i would say that doing business or announcing a deal with another company is in no way disrespectful. Furthermore i'm sure Sony has been aware of this for quite some time.
Kojimo is THE man behind the MGS series, how would it have looked if he hadn't been present at the announcement of the game? I think people would have assumed that since the game wasn't on a Sony platform and he wasn't present that the game didn't have his full backing which equals bad PR for everyone involved in the game.
he's cheating on you. get back at him by sleeping with his sister! Or something
Anyway, 3rd parties can develop for whoever they want, they don't owe anyone anything

He has been faithful to Sony for so many years with numerous games predominately appearing on all iterations of the Sony home console, yet he has decided to announce a new MGS game at the Microsoft Conference for the XBox360. It doesn't matter even if the game is multiplatform and is announced for the PS3 a day later; the point of the matter is that he has announced this game worldwide at a Microsoft event rather than a Sony event. I would view this similar to Epic announcing a new Gears of War game at a Sony event first and foremsot, even if the game is announced a day later at a Microsoft event. This is big/huge news for Microsoft and IMHO shows either a lack of thought (unless he's been financially sweetened) or just plain lack of respect. Unless a full blown sequel to MGS4 is announced today for the PS3, then we certainly have seen the days of any one 3rd party developer of Sony games showing exclusivity to the Sony brand. Well down Microsoft, you have effectively bought your way into Sony's exclusives, which now weakens what Sony is all about. |
Why shooting Kojima ?
Sony is the one who showed lack of respects for the gamers... and Microsoft did well this generation.
Besides, Kojima won't abandon his fanbase for sure.
Epic could also present a game for the Playstation. Why not ?
Anyhow, it is only a problem in fanboy's mind...
Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

We're not talking about legal obligations , we're fully aware of the fact that Kojima or any other 3rd party can develop for any console they choose,
It's Kojima's history with the Playstation brand that has caused some disapointment amongst the playstation audience, it's like all those years of Metal Gear Solid games on the Playstation meant nothing , in the period of 15 mins he neglected around a decade of history.
OP, would it have been acceptable to you if Kojima had announced the game for the PS3 first and the 360 later?
