I would question who has benefited more from the Sony/MGS relationship and hence why Kojima would in any way be answerable to Sony.

Anyway, bottom line, it's business and Kojima and Konami are answerable to their shareholders.

I never said he was answerable to Sony.  And yes both Kojima and Sony have benefited from the relationship, Sony have had a great series of games that have sold well and Kojima has become the man he is because of the games he has made on Sony platforms.

Of course its all down to money at the end of the day, but it's not like MGS games have been poor sellers on Sony platforms that they need to go multiplatform...the opposite actually...with over 4m sales of MGS4 on the PS3.

If he isn't answerable to Sony then i would say that doing business  or announcing a deal with another company is in no way disrespectful.  Furthermore i'm sure Sony has been aware of this for quite some time.

Kojimo is THE man behind the MGS series, how would it have looked if he hadn't been present at the announcement of the game?  I think people would have assumed that since the game wasn't on a Sony platform and he wasn't present that the game didn't have his full backing which equals bad PR for everyone involved in the game.
