Forums - Sony - Has Kojima shown lack of respect to Sony?

With his appearance in the Microsoft Conference?

He has been faithful to Sony for so many years with numerous games predominately appearing on all iterations of the Sony home console, yet he has decided to announce a new MGS game at the Microsoft Conference for the XBox360.

It doesn't matter even if the game is multiplatform and is announced for the PS3 a day later; the point of the matter is that he has announced this game worldwide at a Microsoft event rather than a Sony event.

I would view this similar to Epic announcing a new Gears of War game at a Sony event first and foremsot, even if the game is announced a day later at a Microsoft event.

This is big/huge news for Microsoft and IMHO shows either a lack of thought (unless he's been financially sweetened) or just plain lack of respect.

Unless a full blown sequel to MGS4 is announced today for the PS3, then we certainly have seen the days of any one 3rd party developer of Sony games showing exclusivity to the Sony brand.

Well down Microsoft, you have effectively bought your way into Sony's exclusives, which now weakens what Sony is all about.

He put a remake of MGS1 exclusively on gamecube and put MGS2 on Xbox. He's not an exclusive Sony guy.

I would question who has benefited more from the Sony/MGS relationship and hence why Kojima would in any way be answerable to Sony.

Anyway, bottom line, it's business and Kojima and Konami are answerable to their shareholders.

Not at all.

Had the Sony conference come before the Microsoft one, he would have announced it there. He will give some new info on the game at the Sony conference, I would presume, and confirm that it IS on PS3.

I never said he was answerable to Sony.  And yes both Kojima and Sony have benefited from the relationship, Sony have had a great series of games that have sold well and Kojima has become the man he is because of the games he has made on Sony platforms.

Of course its all down to money at the end of the day, but it's not like MGS games have been poor sellers on Sony platforms that they need to go multiplatform...the opposite actually...with over 4m sales of MGS4 on the PS3.
