Forums - Sales - Which Company is loosing more Money Overall? Microsoft, Nintendo, or Sony?

u dont believe me? u obviously dont notice the amount of people that have their controllers modded......wait till it becomes more easier and cheaper to get.....I have been playing COD 4 and 5 and been modded several times already, halo included....

nobody needs to provide evidence dude look at the amount of money the videogame industry is loosing due to pirattion.......why u think Ps3 console was made that way??

That is why i said "overall" Not just console sales.....

And the xbox live service will frustrate gamers in the long run due to the amount of modified controllers......play soem FPS and see for urself...

i'm sure you can mod controllers for the PS3, Wii and pretty much anything else you can think of.

And for me, the solution to taking care of the people with modded controllers is quite easy....destroy them!  Because only noob weapons are affected by the modded controllers.  Assault Rifles, Turrets....noob weapons like that.  All you have to do is snipe and 4 shot (with the BR) the living piss out of them and problem solved

Hehe, that reminds me one time I was racing against one of those dicks that spawns dozens of blue shells in MK:Wii. I went into last place, got a bullet, then caught up to him (easy because all the people who cheat are really bad at the game) and stayed in second until right at the end, and bulleted my way into first

I would say the game sales numbers and attach rates indicate that piracy is not as big of an issue as you would like it to be.

If anything, the Wii is in the most danger, given the lower attach rates, particularly for "core" 3rd party games. Let's face it, it's the "core" gamers that are likely to know where to get a console modded.

But is Nintendo losing money? Nope.

Better luck next time, but I'm guessing the straws to grasp onto are getting fewer and fewer.

EDIT: Google FragFX and you'll see which console has the modded controller problem

@KeptoKnight

Your argument is specious. Pirates cannot be coerced into making legitimate purchases. This is not lost capitol it is instead capitol that the companies had no expectation of receiving in the first place. Further more Microsoft isn't the most pillaged. The PSP owes a great deal of its sales due to the modding of the device, and Nintendo has had to deal with the pervasive online emulators that directly challenge their virtual console.

Ironically Microsoft has been the most successful in at least extracting their pound of flesh. Thanks to their online raids. Where they locked modded consoles out of live. While many pirates may have shrugged. A good percentage were placed in the situation where they had to buy another console, and pay a new subscription just to get a machine with true full functionality.

Every online service has cheaters. I do not care which system it is, but the reality is and has always been that cheaters make up a very small cross section of a user base. Further more it is not as if they go forth unmolested. Microsoft bans them from their service often, and they even provide the players with ways to report cheaters. Since as a group they push their luck. Enough reports does bring customer service down upon them. Microsoft does seems to take it very seriously. That is why we read about cheater raids a few times each year.

Oh and before you say that for instance Sony is better. I have played the companies online games, and their customer protection isn't even laughable. To be banned from their services you have to literally confess to your crimes. Which means you can basically cheat as much as you want.

I doubt the 360 is modded more than the Wii. You don't even need a mod-chip to mod the wii. Also, there is not a huge problem with modded controllers, especially Halo 3. Play every other day with no problems. I would also like to see some real numbers to back up your claims. I hope you realize that nobody will take such gibberish seriously. A little effort goes a long way. Heck, one source would go a long way.

Well my friend.....technology is becoming gradually cheaper......

Modification with consoles and controllers without a doubt will be to the point where it is going to get out of hand.......

Besides with the latest xbox 360 modification is almost impossible to be detected......

Modifying consoles and making backup of games will be easier to do in the upcoming years...even if its brand new...

Console mods have been going on since the PS2 and has not gotten out of hand.  Piracy is a problem, not a major problem.  Again, some proof goes a long way, otherwise people assume you talking out of your arse.  I sure do.

PC says, "Hi, I'm still alive."

Take your bullet points, apply them to PC and realize your bullet points are more like BB's than bullets.

Who is losing the most money based on some arbitrary console modification and cheating? I've heard some dubious claims in my time and this ranks up there with some of the greats.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

sony is loseing money on hardware and they are not makeing money on games

VITA 32 GIG CARD.250 GIG SLIM & 160 GIG PHAT PS3

Ya know, it should really be a sign to people that the 360 is the most commonly hacked hardware of the current gen and it still has the highest attach rate. It's almost as if *gasp* piracy has no real effect on sales!

Frankly, the largest number of pirates are people in third world countries that simply couldn't afford the games to begiun with.  Some of these people save for a year just to buy the hardware and still have to skip a few meals to get it.  In reality, if the PS3 were hacked it would increase sales in these regions while sales wouldn't drop perceivably in richer areas.

Sure, there's a lot of piracy in this world and if all of those copied games were real devs would be rolling in cash, but the reality is that even if piracy were stamped out completely the devs wouldn't get rish all the sudden.  The very large majority of pirates do so simply because they can't afford the product.  Maybe they shouldn't have ti to begin with, I'm not making any moral judgements though.  The pure and simple fact is that whether they have it or not, the devs are not going to suddenly earn more money.  It's as simple as that.

You do not have the right to never be offended.
