Forums - Website Topics - Ban users who do not post sources?

I have seen quite often lately where users will copy the entire story of an article, but not give the link in the OP and if they ever do give it later on, it is sometimes just a post and not edited into the OP.

I find this very wrong.  Not only is copying the entire article without the author's permission already plagerism, but then to not even include a link in any form is ridiculous!

I know we have rules that request you do not copy/paste the article and not to just post a link, but we should also add on some enforcement of requiring a link, and only a brief paraphrase or quoted section.

Banning goes too far in my opinion.

Sometimes you can forget to add the links it could be an honest mistake no need to ban the poster just notify him/her of their mistake. Problem solved. This is what Nordlead would say i think

Well this site does not have any infraction system in place, so a warning and then temporary ban is all that can be done.

However, I still even feel that is not enough.

Too often users completely plagiarise the article.  Giving the link as a source still does not make it ok to copy the whole article without the author's permission.  I've been on many forums that had issues with this and so I know how big of a deal it can be when serious blogs and news sites have their articles plagiarised.

I guess the main problem is with people who copy the whole article.  If you forget to post the link, you receive a warning and that will eventually expire.  That is fair.  However just copy/pasting an article should never be allowed.

The J man thinks its just rafichamp doing it.....and yes its annoying.

Well considering scans are allowed, I doubt we will be seeing that changed any time soon.

Even news articles hotlink images from other sites sometimes, and copy the content (although I'm not sure if some are by the same author or through partnerships).

For repeat offenders, yes.
