I have said it before and I will probably say it again ... Why isn't Sony focusing more on the in-game footage?

CG is still cool but it is so common now that it doesn't have the impact it once did, and many gamers have become resistant to the "bait and switch" tactics of the past and are not that likely to buy a game based on CG thinking it is in game footage. Sony has a powerful console and should be showcasing it rather than focusing on pre-rendered graphics.

Those Play Beyond commercials certainly make the PS3 sound appealing, I mean.

I mean, take the Blu-Ray commercial, where they compare 5-10 sunflowers for DVD games. Then they show like 30 sunflowers for...HD-DVD I think it was? And then they show, not 50 sunflowers or whatever Blu-Ray holds, but an entire field of sunflowers! Obviously BS, but the image gets the point across, which is what matters...that's why I think it's a good ad.

I can see how some fanboys got sucked into thinking this console was the greatest thing ever...it is pretty cool advertising I think.

 It doesnt matter. Simple marketing shows that you hook the consumer get them interested, then you hit them with "only on PS3"...it makes more sense then forcing the product on you and possibly losing attention or focus based on preconceived notions either towards a product or company.

You draw in ALL consumers by offering something without brands then you hit them with the brand once their attention is garnered as to not alienate potential consumers early in the commercial.



I agree Ben, the commercials are certainly well delivered and very cinematic. If you had zero knowledge of the actual workings of computer software and hardware, they would certainly sway you into Sony's way of thinking... but some of those are just such blatant BS that it really irks me. "Regular processors can only handle a single process at a time." Uh... What are you smoking Sony?

                 With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B
