Actually, bardicverse (until I had to type your name, I've been calling you "bacardi" verse!) up until a week ago, I was a cop! I don't think I fit your stereotype, but I definitely know many officers that do. I think it's the downside of giving a guy a couple of months training, a gun, and permission to speed fast, and telling him "okay. You have the power to do whatever you want, just make sure you only do good".

I think our society DEFINITELY needs police. Just the presence of a police car is enough to deter some crime. I just think that a lot of people who get the job aren't the kind of people who should have the job.

So what happened? Did I missed the thread ? :| Seriously, why arent you a cop anymore? :|

Got pissed off a long time ago when a cop arrested one of my ex-girlfriends for absolutely no reason, and started looking for some other place to work.  I got hired by another police dept. on May 13, and then got hired by a nuclear power plant as armed security on May 16.  Since the security job pays almost twice as much as police work does (and I don't have to fight, chase people, or get criticised by the public when I tell them that we can't fingerprint EVERYTHING), I took the security job.  Got a $2875 check for unused vacation time, too!!

Than its all good... I was thinking that something tragic happened and loosing your job means that you have to move to a 3rd world country so you wont starve to death :P

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

Reminds me of one of the "callers" for Fernando Martinez in GTA3:

"Guns don't kill people, death kills people.... You know if we had more guns in this country there would be less crime"

To take a different approach here, It's probably likely that something like violent television or videogames played a part here. I mean we're talking about a two year old. I have a three year old and she's never been exposed to a knife in her entire life. If I sat her down with it, I don't think she'd ever reach a 5 month old baby to hurt it. She'd probably hurt herself out of straight ignorance of not knowing what a knife does. So I do believe this two year old was in the presense of someone or something(like videogames) that exposed it to some rudimentary knife usage.

However, that does not put the blame on videogames themselves, just because they may have been what taught this child about knives(if that is how it happened). The blame still falls squarely on poor parenting.
