Forums - Gaming - I finished InFamous (+impressions)

@ squilliam: If you look at it completely objectively: It is repetitive... but boy, what fun it is while it lasts :) Blasting everything, flying around, chasing over powerlines...

even the side missions are a set of pre-defined missions that just come back several times but with some new enemies, in a new territory and with slightly more difficult executions. But even though this may sound repetitive, it doesn't feel like that.

Even chasing after the blast shards (like the pidgeons in GTA IV but with actual fun) is fun, and they reveal its location on the radar if you press L3. The search and climbing, flying to get them is also fun (and not friggin annoying and pointless like in GTA IV).

I consider infamous to do right what GTA IV did wrong. it's a blast from start to finish.

Neos tends to be very critical of sony so him being this positive of the game is a huge compliment

That sounds like Crackdown to me, damn I spent so much time going after agility orbs... So I guess that settles it.

Thank you papflesje!

No problem, Squill :)

The nice thing about those Blast Shards is that they serve a purpose too. The more you have, the more "batteries" you get, meaning you will have more power and therefore more time to wreak havoc before having to reload on cars, train tracks, power lines, lamps, phone booths.... or people (if you're evil that is :p)

People can change ;). I consider MGS4 to be the best game of this decade, so you can see how much I have changed! I still love nintendo because of all the good memories I have, but I just do not agree with their strategy right now. So until that changes, I'm only buying PS3 (exclusive only) games right now.

I like the way you level up and discover new powers. And how you unfold the story more and more if you actually do the sidemissions. Im playing it on the Good side now, and ima blast through it on evil once ive finished it.

Graphics wise its not as good as GTA, but what GTA lacked in extras, inFamous hits just right imo.

Missions and sidemissions allows you to bring back electricity to that neighbourhood (which is critical for your survival), they also unlock respawn areas, clears neighbourhoods of enemies (atleast while playing Good) and it makes that part of the city much more safe, the people help you and you can really see how the city comes to life.

And i like that the missions evolves with your powers, and forces you to use them all to stay alive.

And your suppose to have a few completly different cutscenes and sidemissions based on if you play it as Good or Bad. I'll give it a 89/100.

I really liked Crackdown, and Mercenaries 2. Will I like this game? :/

If what appeals to you in Crackdown is finding stuff to boost your ability, and climbing on top of buildings, it probably will.  Definitely has that aspect of Crackdown.  But it definitely appears to me more GTA structured in that you get cutscenes and set missions, where you make decisions.  Think Crackdown meets Spiderman 2, with your powers being electric based, so you can fall in water or ride in vehicles.  There still appears to be room to just wander around, explore, find stuff and shoot the enemies (with your electric powers).

I hated GTA IV, but for me Mercs 2 was a flawed masterpiece, and Crackdown was even better but more repetitive. My enemy in these games is repetition, so is Infamous repetitive?

Hmm the game has a LOT of different missions. And each part of the city has around 6-7 different enemies (3 neighbourhoods). Also, why only having electricity as a weapon, there are a lot of different powers to discover. It's so much fun to totally destroy every part of the town =D

Maybe I'll have to give it a look.

Im still looking for the perfect sandbox game to make love to forever, but unfortunately that just hasn't happened yet!

Too bad leafy bugs are intimidated by wide open spaces...

I think only way we will get this is if the sandbox is in a massive-multiplayer environment, which spawns new content, and you can buy it.  Besides this, MAYBE if the city underneath were like Simcity, and the citizens developed and grew it.  Otherwise, you run into scripting for variety, or it is just an open-ended sandbox, without much to drive it (the way Crackdown is).

I beat this game today and WOW Cant wait for number 2 hopefully we see it at E3 2010

Black Women Are The Most Beautiful Women On The Planet.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi
