The nice thing about those Blast Shards is that they serve a purpose too. The more you have, the more "batteries" you get, meaning you will have more power and therefore more time to wreak havoc before having to reload on cars, train tracks, power lines, lamps, phone booths.... or people (if you're evil that is :p)
