Congrats!

Haha, you know what'd be funny? If MS used VGChartz as their source. We'd be patting ioi on the back because his data exactly matched MS's :P

I would lol.

I wonder how they count Xbox Live users. I have not paid for a couple of years but still get my monthly email updates (to my computer) about Xbox Live.

Also, 30M is an important milestone. This will mark the first generation that more than one console has passed the Atari 2600 level of success (the Genesis just missed). So Microsoft should be congratulated.

Similarly, the number shows that VGC tracking is pretty close - and worth far more than what we pay for it.

Of course it counts Silver members.

Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,

They've stated that Silver users are also considered "active" since they can browse through the stores, download junk, etc. Now how long does an account have to be dormant to be considered inactive is still a mystery.

Yes. Unless otherwise specified as current Gold members, then it includes each and every Live enabled gamertag. It's the same thing when Sony merges PSP and PS3 PSN accounts.

I wouldn't be surprised if Xbox Live accounts are included in this as well.
