I think they are looking for "US content - Us Market"... not so sure about the fantasy games.

Well, they'd rather put the majority of their main series on consoles. Otherwise they could've just went PSP and best of all the DS. |
why not the Wii then?

| Soriku said: @W29 It's not Microsoft. Otherwise most games might go to 360 and SE sure isn't doing that. Unless they tell MS exactly what to do and SE decide tne system where games go. But that isn't happening. And I was just joking about Disney |
We will see though there is a precent chance that Square Enix will cooperate with Microsoft. Who knows if its EA I know Peter Moore will help out good old Microsoft.
Hopefully Microsoft executives are reading this news, and begging Uncle Bill to give em a few bucks to make this happen.
Merely because aquiring the ability to publish SE games in the US and PAL regions would be a deathblow to Sony, and make the X360 compete with the Wii for quite a bit of sales. SE's always gone where the winner has gone.
Nevertheless, outside of MS, my only idea would be Ubisoft (they have published other JRPGs for US and PAL markets) and the even worse option: EA.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I think your right. With all the history behind the PS brand, I think Square Enix is just spinning in circles, cause they know the Wii is selling excellent in all regions and the 360 is doing excellent in the U.S. and Europe region, but not in Japan (but its getting there). And the PS3 was their expectation to sell the best out of the 3. So with the PS3 really selling low in the Japan and in America and in Europe. Square Enix I think is looking for an American company to help them probably market there games better on the 360.

Pardon? What if they wanna release games like KH and stuff on other systems like the Wii? |
No comment on the Wii.............
S-E won't go with Sony, Nintendo or Microsoft because that would make their games exclusive and they stated they are not doing that.
It will be an independent developer but since majority of US developers suck I don't really care. I want to play their Japan orientated games so whatever they decide doesn't really matter to me.
| Soriku said: ^ They're not doing that. They're doing whatever fits what they wanna do and apparently it's fantasy... |
“We need to seek co-operation with a US publisher – we need local content,” Mr Sasaki said at the Tokyo Game Show. “Our strength is in role-playing games and fantasy titles, so it is a bit difficult to appeal to the US market.”
Am I reading wrong????
And yes, they are just walking in circles, or maybe just waiting to finish and promote FF:XII and the just jump ship...
Why do everybody think that they are looking for a big partner?
They seem to want a western partner to make more games that appeal over here so why can't they have a development studio as a partner, like Nintendo has Retro and had Rare to make games more suited to the American/European tastes.
What I would like to see is a SE/Bioware partnership as I believe whatever would result of it might be quite interesting.
