Rememeber, the Xbox 360 was only destined to last 4 years because the original Xbox only lasted that long.

You are kidding me right?

No he's right...

Everyone who's been on this site for a couple months should know that MS is going to stop supporting the 360! I know someone who's roomate works in the MS fax room... he says that he see's faxes about the "end" date, I promised not to tell anyone, but I can hint that Squilly date is pretty close!

Congrats 360! You did a lot better then your older brother.. hopefully the next box will last longer than 4 years...

PS - I'm going to buy 4 more Xbox 360's and keep them as collector's items!

Surely you don't mean this. Seems far fetched anyways. Off course it will end soon we all know Microsoft doesn't want to make anymore money on this right?

How our favorite systems are just like humans and sometimes have issues finding their special someone...

Xbox 360 wants to KinectPS3 wants to Move!  Why are both systems having such relationship problems?  The reason is they both become so infactuated with desire while watching the Wii as it waggles on by. They simply want what they can't have.

Good thread because it makes you realize how modern and fresh the X360 feels despite being middle age.

Hmm you might be right. I don't know anyone whos 360 has lasted longer then 2 years. Literally. A friend of mine's Elite just got the red ring. He actually managed to keep it a secret for a week (he didn't want me to know since I warned him about the the system failure). He finally confessed yesterday but blamed it on the German porn he had been watching on it.

Of my three friends who bought 360, he was the only one to have not gotten RROD.

I'm glad a thread about this ancient console got turned into an RRoD one. Sweet.

OT: I can't really see a new console for another 3 years. So I don't know what we'll be playing on until the nextbox launches. Maybe we'll still get multiplatform games like last gen.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

That's simply crap.. I doubt MS is going to stop supporting its 30 million users in less than half a year. I bet most of them don't have money to buy a new console, and even if they announce a new console, they will announce it at least one year in advance, and the only reason MS stopped supporting the old Xbox is because they had trouble with nVidia thus they were forced to stop production, and they had a small installed base anyway. This time, the story is way different. This Xbox is really not comparable to the last Xbox, not on hardware sales, and certainly not on game sales, and I bet developers will still want to support it, even when the next one comes out, just like the PS2 is still getting games now.

Besides, even if what I just said turns out to be false, why would they stop supporting the X360 in 180 days when they are just getting started with 1 vs 100? You think they will just say, never mind, we'll go to the nextbox? I doubt it...

Truth does not fear investigation

idk about the 4 year plan. The next generation was already looming around the corner so microsoft made the choice to beat everyone to the punch. 4 years is a rather short lifespan nonetheless. They should at least hold off until 2010 at very minimum

Well damn. I had my second XBox die in less then a year, and my first one died in just over two years. Does that means my next XBox will last six months? My wife just got a second XBox for the other room (Arcades are so friggin' cheap!).

So yeah, tho I do hope this XBox lasts for another four years.

Oh, but RIP XBox 360 :P

It's just that simple.

Now that the Xbox 360's lifespan has almost come to an end. I think its time to celebrate the good times we've had with the machine before the end... to celebrate the machine which will sell almost 50% more in the same time frame as the famed Xbox 1 and had so many good games released for it.

Many people wrote the Xbox 360 off before its life even began, they said it wouldn't even last as long as the original Xbox. Well they were proved wrong! The Xbox 360 is going to last longer than the original Xbox by one more day, which is a testament to Microsofts good work in extending the lifespan of this venerable machine.

Not many people or consoles get to be celebrated before the end of their lifespans, but for this machine I want things to be different. The Xbox 360 as worthwhile as my Microsoft Vista 64 installation on this gaming HTPC and as worthwhile as my Microsoft Blu Tooth media keyboard/mouse combo.

The Xbox 360 was never as long as a Wii Fit balance board, nor as fat as a PS3, or as white as a Wii. It seemed to be always destined to be somewhere in the middle of everything. A solid contender which never really stood out, and kind of blended into everything. A perfect example of the mediocrity we expect from Microsoft. Never really stood out except for the games which could be played almost exclusively on the Xbox 360 if one had a PC or just waited.

  1. Bioshock
  2. Orange Box
  3. Gears of War
  4. Oblivion
  5. Halo 3
  6. Gears of War 2
  7. Braid
  8. Mass Effect
  9. TCGRAWF
  10. Geometry Wars 2
  11. Forza 2
  12. Call of Duty 2
  13. Left 4 Dead
  14. Fable 2
  15. Project Gotham 3
  16. Geometry Wars
  17. Fight Night Round 3
  18. Project Gotham 4
  19. Splinter Cell Double Agent
  20. Dead or Alive

The list of games in order of metacritic which are still, were or just semi exclusive games.

So now, I leave it to you, the fans of the Xbox 360 to say a few words before the end of the lifespan of this venerable machine.

Damm Sqill!...This thread was an Utter sucsess...Not only did you manage to list a bunch of exclusives but ever one  came to defend the 360
