Forums - Sony - Games need separate platinum trophies for single player and multiplayer.

I think the system is fine the way it is. If you want to go for a platinum trophy in a game with a dead online community, chances are the game isn't really all that good, and you are one in million. Just go for another platinum trophy, and have better luck with picking what platinum you want next time.
And I still don't understand anyone who would go for a platinum trophy just to get a platinum trophy. If you like a game enough, you will ask around on the internet to try and get some matches going.

I think there should be multilayer trophies, seeing as trophies are incentives to play.
I was going to say that one platinum should be it, and hard to get since it is TEH platinum, but I can see your point. Two would be better, one for off line and one for online. But both adequately difficult to get.

No. Platinums do not exist to give you a pretty graphic on your trophycard. Platinums exist to keep you playing for a long time- they give you an incentive to do so.

So there should be one platinum per game. The whole POINT is that it is hard to get. If you don't want to play the game fully to get the pretty graphic, that's your loss.

You or anybody else still hasn't addressed the issue of how you think games with dead online components should be handled.  What if I actually want to play online, but can't find any matches?

Tough.

If you can't play online, you can't play online. The only difference between what you are proposing and what currently exists is that in the circumstance you are describing, you still get a pretty graphic.

Is it true that Sonic's Genesis collection is easy game to get platinium???

OT: I agree. I hate online trophies. 10 000 kills in RE2 is insane.

The whole point of a platinum trophy is that they aren't handed out like candy. offering 2 plats per game cheapens the feeling you get after getting one. I mean you don't celebrate a bronze as a silver, a silver as much as a gold and sure as a hell a gold as much as a platinum.
Getting a platinum is the best part of collecting trophies, giving more per games will only cheapen it.

Same here - a seprate trophy set would be much better as I'd definetly be bothered to get the GTA platinum if it didn't have stupid online trophies

My only problem with online are the games that have the deep leveling systems.

They sound good and all but they're so inaccessible. If you didn't start the game within a few weeks of it launching you're just screwed. I've tried to get into the CoD4 and KZ2 multiplayer and I just can't because twats 20 level higher than me just destroy me right away.

It sucks for me because I can't match them in any way at all because I'm not that good in the first place and it just gives me no incentive to play again. True, I could keep playing until I get to their level or at least get to a level where I could get something decent, but dying over and over again isn't fun.

AMEN BROTHER!  Online for me generally isn't fun for the same reasons you described.  There are people with waaaaay too much time on their hands who spend every waking moment online.  It's tough for a "weekend warrior" to compete.  I agree.  Dying over and over again isn't fun.

Keep this in mind when reading what I type...

I've been gaming longer than many of you have been alive.

But in COD4 and KZ2 you only play with your own rank to start off (boot camp etc), so Im not really sure what you mean there. If after the likes of bootcamp you get destroyed, maybe its just 'not your game'

OT- I think the whole point of a platinum is to show you have 'mastered' the game. In this day in age everyone should be online, and since to master the game you need to conquer online then I don't see anything wrong with the current trophies and achievements

People complain about Logevity in games (I draw attention to the recent hooha about Terminator) things like 10k kills in Res2 gives you that longevity, suck it up and go for it. When you get it you'll know you earned it.
