Yeah, stop assuming like an idiot that we share the graphics>controls opinion. We don't.

You're making the assumption that most people share your opinion that Wii shooters have better controls.

Sales figures would indicate the opposite.

How do sales figures indicate this?
1 Call of Duty: World at War

5.46m
2 Call of Duty: World at War 3.24m
3 Call of Duty: World at War

1.12m

Come on that's silly.  There is more to a game than just the controls.  The PS360 versions obviously have better graphics and better online and are generally not the gimped versions.  If Wii had the same graphics as 360 which version do you think would sell more?  Of course the Wii version.  The only thing these sales indicate is that more people consider graphics/online/full version to be more important than controls.

The Wii has an enormous base and comparitively lessor shooter sales...

The number of factors which you have entirely failed to take into account manufacturing this correlation is astounding.

The lack of ANY factors being produced to counter my argument is EQUALLY astounding.

Nice to see you didn't disagree with my previous statement and i didn't bother to give examples because i didn't really think you believed in what you were saying.

If you are telling me that you honestly think that sales of Wii FPS are directly correlated with the fact or perception that IR control is poorer than dual analogue and that there is no other possible explanation then i remain astounded.

I'll give you a hint though, do you suppose there might be a difference in the quality of the shooters other than control?

Excuse me?  Where on earth did I say there is no other possible explanation?  Can you not win the argument without deliberately reframing what I have said?  Has it occured too you that part of the quality deficit on the Wii when it comes to shooters could relate to the controls?

Starcraft you said that sales would indicate that most people think Wii shooters don't have better controls.   I don't think that statement is very open to interpretation but that is why i asked you to clarify your first statement to which you replied, "The Wii has an enormous base and comparitively lessor shooter sales". Stated together it would seem you believed that despite it's enormous userbase, Wii FPS shooter sales are poor because people think the controls aren't as good.

If you think there are other possible explanations for the sales differences with FPS, i took your statement to mean that you believed there weren't, then we have no debate.

See, you understand the overall concept so why in the world did you agree with Starcraft's correlation of controls to sales in the first place?

I am saying that that has to be a very large factor in why people would choose the Xbox version rather than the Wii version. If you think the the IR aiming it far superior, why would you not buy the Wii version, it is the main factor

Ask those that bought Godfather on any console other than Wii.  Ask them why they didn't buy the game with the best control.   Chances are you'll find most answers have little to do with controls themselves.   And for the record, every review for the game agreed that the controls were far superior on Wii.  Not a FPS but the context is the same.

How do you delete all the boxes, I always end up leaving empty boxes... anyway

Well no, the controls were better on the Wii because the game is not just an FPS. The reason that I would guess they got it on PS360 (of course there is still the question why they bought the game in the first place) is because they assume that the Wii version will just be a dumbed down port, or maybe it is because they don't like the Wii's motion controls for most games?

Hmm.... either way... I HOPE they make a Wii version... because that should make more developers want to develop for the wii... but either way im getting the PC version.

Yeah, how do you delete the boxes? I don't disagree with your point but the whole choosing between versions does only affect those with multiple systems, which is a minority. A very large factor in why people chose the Xbox version, for example, is the fact that they may only own an Xbox and so their choice does not reflect the quality of any aspect of the product or even perception of quality .

Okay, here is another question, why do so few Wii onwers buy CoD games?

Also, are there any stats on multiple console ownership?

See, there there is still a box left there

The 360 version would still sell more because it's the demographics on the console that matter.  If the 360 had a 50 million installed base and the Wii had a 30 million one you wouldn't see me arguing that Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games would sell better on 360.  I don't understand how people can possibly try to argue or believe something similar like in this case.

Put your cursor at the start of the quote you want deleted and click on the "Delete Row" icon in the menu above.  It has a red row with an arrow pointing to the right.  Repeat for whatever quotes you want removed.

My point was that they bought game with little regard for whether the controls were superior or not.  The same holds true for the FPS's.  Everyone I know that has played CoD: WaW on both Wii and HD consoles has agreed the Wii version controlled better (with the exception of one guy because he'd never played a Wii game before so his aim was naturally off....just like the first time we all tried analog sticks back in 1996).

Well that is where your argument becomes ridiculous.  Why do shooter fans buy a 360 or PS3 over the Wii?  Isn't it cause of the lack of HD graphics and the fact that there are very few shooter games on the Wii?  Surely you can't be suggesting that it is cause of the Wii Remote and they want to stick to regular pad.  If Wii had HD graphics (assuming it cost the same of course) many of the people who got a PS3 or 360 would have bought a Wii instead first cause they would get better shooter controls, secondly because all the big HD games would be on Wii as well and thirdly because they would not be losing out on HD graphics by having a Wii only.

For example I have a 360 but if Wii had HD graphics it would have received Fallout 3 which would have meant I would never have had to get a 360.  It would also have meant I would have played COD4 with pointer controls and amazing graphics.

How could the Wii have HD graphics and cost the same?  Seriously if you're going to come up with what-ifs at least make them remotely reasonable.  Nintendo always makes money on hardware so if they had a HD system you can bet it would be expensive.  Also there are other factors you seem to ignore.  Like the fact that Nintendo has no first-party FPS game comparable to the Halo franchise which brought many millions of FPS fans to the 360.  It doesn't have an online comparable to Xbox Live where many FPS fans go because that is where their friends are.  The 360 came out a year earlier and was able to attract many FPS fans even before Halo 3 came out.  It also has other exclusive franchises (Gears of War in particular) that attract fans of such games, something Nintendo doesn't have.  At the end of the day it's not just graphics or the input device that make the difference, if that was the case then CoD4 would have sold a lot more on PC than 360.  I mean there are apparently 300 million PC gamers according to some people and yet the PC version of CoD4 couldn't outsell a version on another system with a 30 million installed base.
