Forums - Gaming - PSP VS DSI Cnet Prize fight. Guess which one wins?

Features? just playing games is a 5.0 since it is you know.. a gaming device...

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

Got a DS, Got a PSP, use the DS for gaming, while PSP for gaming / movies / music ... so i use the psp more, even tho the games are better on DS but i have to say, the DSi is the biggest pile of nintendo bullshit ive ever seen, so expensive. Nearly as overpriced as the damn wii

Sega For Life - Gaming Died When Sega Died ... Sega <3

The nintendo before - ' wii release ' <3
Sega before ' Software Only ' <3

Anti M$ (Therefore anti 360) - im making it official ... Go play your meaningless FPS Games ...

Funny... I would actually change the design/games numbers. The Design of the DSi IMO is great, but when it comes to games the PSP wins for me :| So yeah, subjectivity proves that we cant compare the two :P

The DS got a 3.7 for library? Its got so many games, how is that possible? I mean, its got your traditional platformers and RPGs, but also crazy shit like Elektroplankton and stuff like the Korg DS-10 (which I suppose technically isn't even a game lol). It's really a landslide victory in favor of teh DS> The PSP has some great stuff, but the DS just has so much more.

The only arguable advantage the PSP has in this area over the DS is games like Resistance: Retribution and Syphon Filter - shooters that aren't all that good because of the controls.

I suppose for my personal tastes the game library argument boils down to Pokemon and Prof. Layton vs Patapon. All three are amazing franchises, but its clear which side wins lol.

Wait what? Shooter controls are better on DS... if you play any FPS on DS and play it on PSP, Ds destroys it, and same for TPS games though there are few of those on DS for some reason.

By "advantage" I meant that the PSP has considerably more games in that area.

...and they control horribly.

The only advantage the PSP has on the DS is multimedia capabilities. I mostly used my PSP for music and videos.....AND PATAPON.

rediculous how they barely have DS outwinning PSP in library. If you take a hardcore only mindset and games that are not released yet then possibly they are somewhat close.

but that is like nitpicking hugely on the ds's library, and cutting out like over 75% of the userbase as well. But come to expect this these days, you can't expect todays so called hardcore gamers to appreciate any game they don't like, they are so selfish in their thinking.

hell looking at the list of the 30-21 and comments, there is like 5 people who are bitching that pokemon doesn't even deserve to be on the list. now that is laughable.

I think it's insulting that the PSP somehow got a better design score than the DSi.

Also there is a big difference between the PSP's game library and DS's. Those scores would have been accurate if we were talking about their library's in the past 12-18 months. But since they are overall, they clearly love little innovation at Cnet, with PS2-lite versions of games being their cup of tea (no offense PSP owners, but that's what the best games on the PSP are in my opinion, except patapon and locorocco).

Hey by the way while I'm in a PSP thread. PSPs are not region free right?

Why is it insulting ? I seriously believe the PSP should have lost this contest, but the PSP is an impressive looking toy.

I have to disagree with most posters that say PSP software is crap compared to DSi. I would say MOST DS software is shovelware. Biggest selling games for DS are the ones aimed at little girls (imagine brand, cooking mama etc.) , children (nintendogs, petz, etc.) or older people (brain games).

For core gamers DS library is not very extensive. It is mostly nintendo FIRST party software and, lets face it, Nintendo brings out 1 game for each franchise every few years. There are some really good games but like PSP library a lot of them are PORTS.

As far as innovative controls are concerned not a whole lot of games are purely stylus based and some are easier to play with normal controls (IF it is supported).

My PSP gets a lot more time than my DS. I like the PSP mechanism of puting the console in sleep mode. I also like the fact that I can use PSP FAT's batetry with it to increase battery life.

I like the DS mostly for its ability to plays my GBA games as well. DSi can NOT do that.
