     As I pointed out before, the software lineup we saw that put PS3 over Wii during that time is far from the strongest software lineup we're going to see coming to PS3.  I still believe that in the last two to four years of its life, the software both in quality and amount that we will see coming to PS3 will rival what was seen on PS2 during its peak years.

Actually kinda sad that it takes multiple high profile games for the PS3 to outsell Wii.  It's like the best PS3 can do is only marginally better then the worst Wii can do, and when things pick back up the PS3 just can't touch Wii sales on a normal day :\

The Final Fantasy games and GT5 will have no effect on this, especially if Nintendo counters with a Mario, a Zelda, a Wii ___ game, or the two biggest Japanese games that sell more then FF and GT5, Pokemon and Dragon Quest X.

So, do you think all development of high-end pc games is suddenly going to stop to make way for Wii games?  And, if Valve and Bethesda make these games for the Wii and they don't sell anymore than 1/5th of what their ps3 and 360 titles have as  games like No More Heroes, Madworld haven't really sold that well in comparison to similar games on PS3, 360 then how do you think they would feel about making second and third games on the Wii?

 

Number one how does Valve and Bethesda compare to Suda 51 and Clover/Platinum games, Valve and Bethesda are two of the biggest developers in the west, while the other two couldn't even place in the top ten for Japan, Valve & Bethesda make million sellers each time because not only do they develop for the masses they market well, Suda 51 and Clover/Platinum games have yet to sell a million on a game despite having some of the most highly reccomended titles, why is that?  The grenres and the styles they go for are not appealing to the mass markets.

Number two, can you actually list one game on either PS3 or 360 that are niche brawler games that have sold a million?  Go one more and challenge you to find one game on either console that fits not only the genre but the style of the two games.

Short answer: NO

Long: Not this again... the tired old excuse that is flat out wrong, if it was wearing off the Wii would have a terrible attach rate and wouldn't sell the most third party software.

Can we stop feeding this troll thread. We all know the bottom line, that Sony has and will again bite Nintendo's style and be successful with it. The only difference is that this time they won't even need to release a new console to do it. More likely then not Wii HD will be just about as powerful as a PS3 if not less then. And by the time Nintendo even feels compelled to make a new system it will be to late. Sony and MS will have millions of Wii Fit/Wii play copycats on the market and it will take Ninty another 10 years to come up with another innovation worth of Opera's attention.

It's still a moot point because every time the PS3's software line-up is said to be the best, it never shapes up in hardware pushed, and it never shows much in terms of software sales either. I've posted an image numerous times that said just that "Lair will save the PS3. No, wait. That one didn't do so well. Heavenly Sword will. Not, that didn't either. MGS4. It...........almost did. Maybe......." and so forth. Past results are not predicting a good future, and the window for opportunity has since shut. The PS3 WAS outselling the 360, but that has long passed.

Also, you never account for the software on the other systems. I don't know much about Microsoft's line up, but I know Nintendo will have strong software in Wii Sports Resort. The fact that the Wii still has some punches (and I assume so does the 360) that PS3 dominance isn't coming soon.

@Megadude: What you suggested wont happen, or, as you implied, will not be PS3/360 dominance. Far from it. They will likely fail at every turn to imulate the Wii. This explains what will happen well.

With dramatically better exclusives on PS3 than 360 the PS3 could start to overtake the 360 much quicker than you speculate.  Especially if there aren't any significant games or only a few Rare games being placed on the 360 at the same time the PS3 is making up the majority of those sales.

     It might not be selling as rapidly as Wii at that point in time but when you have God of War III, new games from Insomniac, and other PS3 studios, Trico, Final Fantasy XIII, Versus XIIII, (especially if they get exclusive Kingdom Hearts 3), Kojima's next projects, and the other exclusives I've mentioned here, plus almost the same games that the 360 gets from Western developers while games like Gears 3, Fable 3 etc, are headed to 720, then PS3 would be selling well enough in that range.

You're right.  Because Lair, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, GTAIV, MGS4, Resistence 2, LittleBigPlanet and Killzone 2 all pushed the PS3 to stratospheric sales.

Ok, you two snakes can keep going back and forth, but mentioning those games as a talking point against the PS3 really boils my skin. What games do you think make the Wii sell so well? Mario? Zelda? Metroid? Pikmin? Super Smash? Other staple 1st party game? I've said it before and I'll say it again: If those games were so great, why were the GCN and N64 in dead last in their respective generations? Those games' Wii iterations can't possibly be the selling point, so it has to be other games and the lure of the Wiimote that makes it sell. Wii Fit, Wii Sports, Wii Music, stuff like that are making it sell....but if you're going to talk up the Wii because of those games, and talk down about the PS3 because of the above mentioned games, you need a reality check

Oh please show me in this thread, or any thread, where I said those Wii iterations of franchise games are the reason Wii sells so well.  Please find it because Im, having difficulty doing so.

 

However, you've unwittingly helped my point.  If continued releases of the same old software are not what makes a console sell at great levels then his assertion that upcoming PS3 games will enhance sales greatly falls apart.
