Forums - Gaming - The myth of the more powerful console.

@myself
hm, now that I think about it, maybe the reason why there aren't any fanboys on this thread claiming me to be an idiot is because I've succeeded in hitting the nail on the head?

meanwhile, i'm still waiting for the first "CELL IS POWAH" statement from someone on here...

You have done very well very good thread your logic is solid in all your points.

There is no doubt that the power of both console are so close it really don't matter.

The biggest factor could simply be each persons own taste with most comparisions.

Human head demo from nvidia kills everything in sight terms of graphics.

Even older computers can run it. Sure theres nothing but head in demo, but look how good it looks. If you are going to compare for example uncharted to halo, gears of war or anything you must also allow human head into comparison remember that. ;)

(Well, I have said this all the time. However nobody listens. In wake of lots of fanboys and their illogical sense.)

That was by far one of the smartest things I've ever read on this site.

I agree. And note that many of the reasons in the OP apply for the lack of difference between PC and PS360 games as well. They're all the same.

Here is the myth of the PS3:

Long ago, in the beautiful kingdom of Happygamerland surrounded by mountains and forests... legends told of an omnipotent and omniscient Power of teh cell that resided in a hidden land. Many people aggressively sought to enter the hidden Land of Teh Cell... But no one could ever afford it. One day evil power began to flow from Microsoft... So the King commanded seven wise men to lower the price of teh cell. This seal should have remained for all time... But, when these events were obscured by the mists of time and became legend... Killzone 2 came out and vanquished the evil FUD.

I also agree with the OP and couldn't have put it any better. Hopefully you will enlighten a few people with your post.

Well, my opinion is that we haven't seen the full power of both consoles (we might see it in 2-4 years), and i don't think we can tell what console is more powerful at this point. Unfortunately we don't have FutureMark for consoles :D

But maybe there's a difference, we really can't tell.

I think that objectively Killzone 2 has better graphics than Halo 3.

I also think this is due to the far higher production budget and far longer production cycle the former had.

I agree completely. I mean, I'm a 360 fan and love halo but i gotta tip my hat to killzone 2. The game has impressive graphics. Now i don't think they're above and beyond other games like gears for instance but i think compared to halo, it's a wider gap. I only own an Xbox 360 and have owned it since NOV 08 along with an lcd 1080P HD samsung that debut oct 08, so it's a new high caliber model. I own gears 2 and halo 3 and have played both on my tv and halo is unimpressive. Some textures even look blurry compared to what i'm used to. Idk where the guy that started the thread got the info about halo 3 and killzone 2 having same development times. Killzone 2 5 years, Halo 3, 3 years max. Also Killzone 2 had a higher budget than Halo 3 and since it's inception, graphics was it's main objective. Halo's objective was primarily, multiplayer experience. I do Know and agree that both consoles are fairly equal and killzone 2 is very possible and also surpassable on the 360. I agree with everything else you said.

1 more thing, Halo 3 released 2 years before killzone 2, everyone knows that the later games always have the best graphics.

I agree on this 100%... especially on the part where you say that exclusives look better NOT because of the consoles strenght, rather then because of the projects massive budget...
