Forums - Nintendo - Doesn't this sentence regarding Metroid Prime Trilogy concern anyone?

"...it's not farfetched to say that these two GameCube games are some of the best looking Wii visuals to date."

I'm really looking forward to this and will probably get it day one since I never played the first two.  However, it's pretty sad that Gamecube games from several years ago can be considered among the best graphics on the Wii.

Not really, I already played both games, and The Conduit looks much better than any Metroid prime, and you will not find a game on the GC that looks like Monster Hunter tri.

Yes and no. NIntendo and Retro (to be more specific) are great developers, they know how to make really good games. So it shouldnt be all that weird that theyre games still look decent all these years later.

What is weird, or sad, is that hardly any developers on Wii are even acheiving 'better than GC' graphics.

That's pretty much what I was getting at.  The Wii shouldn't be all that difficult to program for graphically.  Why is it then that there are so few graphically standout titles?

I can't really take that kind of comment seriously anymore because IGN say that for pretty much everything that look like a Gamecube game with 16:9 widescreen mode.

There's two explanations here. Feel free to choose your favorite.

1. Developers aren't focusing on pushing the Wii graphically, like they often didn't with the Gamecube and often don't with the PS360 combo.

2. IGN's understanding of graphics primarily involves shiny baubles and stretchy things like those found in the Metroid Prime trilogy.

Number one is probably the most reasonable answer.

Many developers just arent focusing on the ENTIRTY of a Wii game. Its either great controls, solid frame-rate, or decent graphics. And in some, unfortunetly common, cases, its none of the above.

Very few Wii games (mostly talking 3rd party here) are actually polished to the level of haveing all three focused. Its simply not a high priority for them.

No, not really. Part of the reason the Metroid games still look good is because the art style is so good and the games run smooth as butter, this is due to the focus of the developers and not necessarily something that is improved with better hardware.

edit: Metroid 3 is still technically a good deal better looking than either Metroid 1 or 2.

just pop Rogue Squadron II in the Wii and you have the best looking Wii game, now thats concerning, that game is 8 years old!

Then again MP murdered pretty much anything that was on PS2.

We've always known that the Wii is closer in power to an original XBox then a 360.

This isn't mean this isn't trolling it just is what it is.
