Forums - Sony - Is Sony going to try and secure "MGS Next" exclusivity for PS3?

I think MGS launch week was the biggest booster for PS3. So they know that game like this is going to create some buzz and maybe next game is not going to push PS3 hardware but it is definitely going to move lot of copies.. We have seen that even with lower PS3 units, MGS sold around the same amount of copies around 4 - 5 million (retailers sales).

Secondly recently Sony is seen trying to get some time exclusivity from Atari for ghostbuster, which is a little new from them.

Thirdly Sony new management and even CEO/President emphasize on software a lot more than hardware and i think they r trying to differentiate themselves from the rest of CEs by providing unique software experience. So they will not be too hard like previous management against money hatting.

But MGS exclusivity is going to cost a lot.. and also Sony already have 1 MGS game for PS3 so its user base is there for MGS and if they even loose it they r not going to loose lot of sales.

So wot do u think.? i feel there is a more chance for MGS Next to be multiplatform, but with new Sony they may try to secure its exclusivity.

Around the Network

I think exclusive.
Kojima has shown us which console he want's go with, MGS4 did fantastic, exceeded his standards.
Idk, I think it will be exclusive.

First day multiplat announcement. Quote me.

Good chance at being exclusive for PS3.

You mean Ghostbusters exclusivity in Europe? I thought it is because Namco Bandai is acquiring Atari Europe?

Around the Network

I think EVERYBODY wants exclusive on their console.

Vote to Localize — SEGA and Konami Polls

Kojima hates Xbox,he has said it previously that Playstation is his preferred platform and he will stay with it

corrections for the post below:

Konami doesn't need more money. They aren't greedy like EA,they believe in creating good games and not just make games for money. And the sales weren't too bad either if you look at the userbasea and the previous installments had sales simeilar to this one.

The US population is mad about FPS.Bigger userbase of 360 doesn't mean higher sales. The MGS fanbase is on PS3.

It doesn't matter if 360 is cheaper than the PS3,almost everybody who loves MGS has a PS3 cause MGS is too gud to miss.

MGS is a game with niche market appeal, bringing it to 360 won't increase the fanbase

Kojima doesn't believe in DLC that much cause he puts everything he's got on the disc.DLC is just another way to earn money for greedy devs

Increase Japanese exposure? Most of the Japanese people who love MGS have it,1m won't help.It will help X360 more than it will help the sales

Kojima has said again and again that PS is his preferred platform

meh

Devlopment cost are high but they were all recouped easily. And PS3 is the highest revenue generator for most of the devlopers as the PS3 has gud fanbase in Europe where games cost more than any other place.

Again most of MGS fanbase has the game already so the brand loyalty remains

PS3 has blu ray,lol...........................

Multiplat:

+ More money from larger sales

+ 360 big in the US

+ 360 cheap so potential buyers may get a console to play the game... which they are less likely to do with a 400$ PS3

+ Increase fanbase for further itterations of the series.

+ 360 DLC in good shape

+ increase Japanese exposure (+1M consoles)

- Kojima's taste for PS3

- MSG4 not on 360 (less of a problem than Mass effect 2 however as other MSG were not on PS3 either)

- developpment costs higher

- Alineation of part of the core fanbase (they'll still buy the game though but less Konami brand loyalty)

- Gamesize restriction (though multiple CD = chapter installs....)

yeah it'll be for Wii :p
