 Whiners = Ignorance

Sony has been doing this ever since the days of GT: concept. I'm not surprised one bit that it would cost 40 bux, but i am surprised that people are NOW complaining as if Sony just started doing this. I guess people always has something to bitch on when talking about the PS3 these days.

2980yen =/= $40

PS3 and GT nut in the house. I'll gladly spend a ten dollar premium on GT5p compared to GT4p considering it is a next-gen game with online. I personally don't judge the worth of a game based on the content that's in it (I know, I sound crazy, but bear with me). I judge worth based on how much fun I'm gonna have with whatever content is in fact included. GT5p could have every car and track from all over the world ever, but if it played like Ridge Racer 1 and cost $40, I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. I have a pretty good sense that I'm gonna spend at least 5 and as much as 15 hours with the license tests and arcade/simulation mode. Throw in another 25 hours online, and I will have spent RPG-like time with GT5p all at a price $20 less than a brand new next-gen role player. So, for me, and probably 1/2 million others, this will be totally worth it. That also means that Sony is totally sane and justified in their pricing.

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

Sony can charge anything they like for the prologue.

I only ask the consumer to be smart. If you're gonna eventually get Gran Turismo 5, why pay twice? You'll be coughing up nearly 100 bucks.

If you want the complete game, don't buy Prologue.

Well let me put it this way, this is a lot closer to being worth $42 than Heavenly Sword or Motorstorm are. There is some real meat to this "demo." However, I wouldn't pay for it personally unless I wasn't going to get the final game. Why pay $100 for one game?

What would have been really cool for Sony to do is charge you the $42, but take it as a reserve price for the full game. Then when GT5 comes out letting you carry over what you already paid towards the price of GT5.

The pricing is that same it always was for prologue so all you wanna be analyst on how its a bad move make no sense. the DEMO will be free. Prologue which is not a demo is basically a taste of crack for the GT fiends to get them ready for the whole 8 ball. hell prologue sales help fund GT5. This is the ONLY Sony game that can pull off a double sale and we all know they need some form of cash to pay for getting all those exclusive cars into every GT game.

@ Dolla Dolla

most GT fiends wont wait an extra 9 months - year for GT5 (its out around the end of next summer to FAll 08 release) Hell i even know people willing to buy a ps3 early just for prologue as they did for the last 2 and it was more then 40 bux cause they imported it and modded thier PS2's to play it. The fact that This Will be the First Time to Get GT online Many of the fiends wont let this pass them by.

I personally have gamefly so no sweat off my back other than everyong wanting to rent the same games at the same time. (Still waiting for Bioshock to be available. Im counting on Halo 3 to take up most peoples rentals to free up bioshock)

In a racing game, I look for a simple number to define whether the game is overpriced or not: How many tracks are there?

8 courses for $42.10 is highway robbery. I would not pay any more than $20 for a game with only 8 tracks.

 Differentiate gamers from car nuts, you will get it.

 The headline on that link is wrong. The demo for MGS2 cost $10 more, although it did come with Zone of the Enders, and didn't force us to play as Raiden.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

NO, the headline is wrong because GT5 Prologue is not a demo. The real DEMO comes in October and is FREE.
