You also go by the assumption that the "slim" model has the same features as the current PS3.  What if it ships with no Wi-Fi, play and charge kit, or BD player access (requires a dongle).

 

I think a $300 elite game of the year edition destroys a $300 stripped PS3.

Of course M$ plans to counter it, but I wonder how much more they can really cut the price. Sony have the bigger games up its sleeve. Okay, so if it ships without wi-fi, it will be like the Xbox, there is no play and charge kit that users are forced to buy, just plug the controller in via USB to anything and it will charge and are you suggesting that they would take out one of the biggest features of the PS3... Microsoft can't cut the price of the console by $100 again

Ahh  the good old argument of sony has had it since ffvii, guess what nintendo had it before that, seems that every 6 ff's (number wise) they change console, ff1 - ffvi (nin) ffvii - ffxii (sony)  ffxiii (sony and ms), the times, they are a changing.

I like how you already know that kingdom hearts will be on ps, generations mean a lot, look at abes odyssey, on ps1, one generation, on xbox the next. Generations change, might also in Japan, we do not know this. I wasn't asking considering these sales what would the next sales be, because look at sony this year, who predicted it being where it is now.

I asked what would happen in a certain reality, you decided to change the rules, read my post and possibly answer my question, dont make up rules so you can decide that ps4 will get ffxiv

looking at the rest of the responses here no one else seems to notice i guess GT6 this gen.... i dont see it happening unless its in year 2015 which would make it a better ps4 launch game... the same with  FFXIV

If I keep saying that Kingdom Hearts 3 is a PS3 exclusive, it will become one!

Also, there is the fact that some of the reasons for the Japanese not buying the Xbox is xenephobia, and favouring their home console makers. Logically, they should be buying Xboxes, that has the best Japanese games on it, but they are not, because they do not want to buy from Microsoft, and that is not going to change

fair enough about the japanese thing, the same thing as western (eng, aus, us) buying america products, it is just more popular in those 3 countries. and xenophobia if you will, but hopefully (for consoles in general) xbox will be able to strive against it, LO which is not a Square game, did alright on the the 360. So there is still hope.

we cannot use the $199 360 vs the more expensive ps3 as the reason anymore as many predict that at the magic $299 price the 360 is all but dead in the water. i for one expect the ps3 to be the winner over the 360 in sales, afterall this is the playstation brand we are talking.

wen the ps3 hits 300 it wont barely outsell look at the line up coming up in the next 12 months, after many months it will sales will slow down a bit but thats just natrual we'll probably all say wait till it goes to 250 or 200

No Wi-Fi? Big deal...it's just like the 20GB. No play and charge? Well since all PS3 controllers are rechargeable, I'm assuming that you're saying that they woundn't include the super cheap USB A to USB Mini-B cord....I doubt that would happen. And no BD access? That would defeat the purpose of it being a PS3. Taking Blu-ray out of PS3 is like taking Dual Layer DVD out of a 360....it just isn't going to happen.

All your hypotheticals fail, and I don't know why you think this bundle would fair any better. A PS3 that cost $50 more outsold the 360 when it was bundled with Forza and Marvel. At price parity, I don't care WHAT game you toss in there, because obviously at certain prices, PS3 demand is higher. Otherwise if a Halo bundle was going to push tons of hardware, the Halo console wouldn't have gotten discontinued

Next Team Ico project, after that Heavy Rain, God of War 3, Uncharted 2, new Ratchet, Gran Turismo 5, Demon`s Soul, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, WKC, MAG, Eye Pet, inFAMOUS, Fat Princess, Flower and many other GREAT PS3 games.

Yeah, you will just go and PLAY the games. =)

Isn`t this clear yet, that PS3 is a MUST HAVE console this gen?
