People don't just forget about classics, are you telling me you've forgotten about classics movies like Goodfellas, Braveheart and Titanic just because modern movies have better or more special effects?

I don't think that's accurate. If you look at the graphical masterpieces (at least, on consoles) this gen: Uncharted, MGS4, Gears of War, and Super Mario Galaxy (it looks amazing for a Wii game), they are also regarded among the best games in the generation. Crysis is the only real "graphics whore" game that comes to mind, but then look at all of the game on PC that try to be different and ignore graphics.
Really, I'd rather have an amazing game with average graphics than an average game with amazing graphics, but ideally, I want an amazing game with amazing graphics, and we've gotten quite a few of those so far.

i really dont understand it either....on the whole...quality gets worse the further you go back. games are much better now than they were.
It can be interesting to look through and see the evolution of videos games...but beyond that....
