God these threads are full of such bullcrap.

It's still sold out everywhere. In fact, I have two friends who finally decided they were going to get Wiis and they're currently on Wii-watch. More accurately, I should say, their girlfriends on are Wii-watch because they're getting Wiis as gifts. Regardless, it's still very hard to find them in stock in most parts of the country because they sell out, literally, in a few hours from arrival.
Are you insane? Just recently Super Mario Strikers was released and it is awesome (I just got it, anyhow). And Metroid Prime 3 was just released as well. Those are two very awesome games that should keep you busy for a while. And there is a good back catalog of games already.
I agree OriGin and some idiot posts one everyday it seems. This topic has been discussed thoroughly several times. Would it hurt people to look at the thread topics before creating one?

Look at all these hateboys. Probably getting a hard-on because the wii is dropping in sales. More sales drop the harder they get.
| Dodece said: I think the Wii bubble refers to stratospheric sales that clean out shelves on a regular basis. Some think the bubble bursting means that sales plummet, and the Wii will start to lose to their competitors. I think the Wii bubble has burst even if your post game launch or in a soft spot in sales cycles a high demand hard to find item should still have ungodly sales. Since people have not beien able to get one, and everyone still wants one. You should never see a situation where supply outstrips demand by two to one or three to one. The Wii should still be selling at the higher numbers regardless of those two factors. That does not mean the Wii will not continue to sell well. That just means its no longer stratospheric. All good things come to an end, and every console that has flown off the shelves has to reach a point where the bubble bursts. Where the supply exceeds the demand, and the initial momentum diminishes. What concerns me is that the console has been moving heavily on a fad mentality. These sales definitely indicate that the fad is going out of style. The way a Tickle me Elmo, or Beenie Babies were the thing to have for months on end. The Wii became a toy for many they had to have. You know what else during the height of the hype about these things few people actively vested in their respective markets would have thought the bottom would fall out. Well eventually the general public does and will lose interest in things. |

Sales have dropped. No question of that.
But they have also dropped at the right time - Nintendo has planned & timed this out perfectly. The pre-Xmas rush starts around October, and by the time November hits - the sales of all games/consoles (this year in particular!) will go through the roof.
Nintendo will sell every available Wii this Xmas - worldwide. I don't think anyone has a doubt that there will be supply shortages - rather than demand shortages.
...
Mark my words - the real console war starts Jan 1st '08 (or maybe 2 weeks later).
What happens in the "off-season" (post-Xmas) will be critical, and will go a long way to determining the long-term future of all three consoles.
You can actually see all three consoles prepping for that period now - its quite remarkable.
WiiFit, Mario Kart, Wii MotorSports, WiiWare launch, etc...
Killzone, MGS4, HOME, LittleBigPlanet, etc...
Halo Wars, Too Human, etc...
(and lets not even mention the real big Daddy - GTA4)
...
2008 is going to be a really remarkable year in the industry. Can it out do 2007? I think it almost certainly will, which is pretty scary considering how well 2007 went!

Shams, I think have struck gold with your Jan 1 console war theory. Would you mind explaining it further? What are your expectations? How do you think the Ps3 will fair? What about the Wii?
All right, I'm going to give one thing here - Wii has softened in Japan, it's definitely true. Earlier this year it didn't matter if there was a slow period, Wii continued to sell well, so we can definitely see the market isn't as enthusiastic.
The problem is that everyone acts like nothing can be done about this. When PS3 sells terribly we just have to wait for the next big game. When Wii loses some of its great sales momentum, nothing can save it?
Call me back after Mario, Wii Fit, or Smash Bros. are released.
It is true that Wii have never been effected with slow periods when PS3 were at 8k Wii were selling at 60k+. Now its all about the games like the ps3 in Japan. We have to see the next few weeks if the sales are the same. Seems like some people have to change their predictions. It is not often I agree with Shams but I feel the same thing about his 08 theory.
