Forums - Sales - Recent adjustment hysteria... just where are we? Lets see....

Good work man, I love these threads.

Relax, we all know that the 360 is still outselling the PS3!
I still wonder why so many thought it'd outsell it by 50-100% all year, though with the market being as weak as it is right now.

Actually, here in Norway, the industry is on its way up and experienced a 13% growth so far this year!
The 360 Elite costs 2-300 NOK less than the Wii now and the PS3 costs about 4-500 more, the Wii is quickly becoming the most expensive console!

I suffer from insanity.

This should to be a good thread

good graphs!

Is there not already a thread with those graphs ?

I mean, outside making some post-adjustement//pre-E3 dammage control, what is the point of this thread ?

There is no adjustement hysteria, the gap is just a bit smaller, end.

Also, about the year to year comparaison, remember PS3 didn't get a price drop last year (2008) but it got one just at the end of 2007. That is why the sales are overall down.

At the opposite, the Xbox360 got a, much needed, price cut at the end of last year (indeed 2 in Europe), that is why you have a year to year big increase.

You can close this useless thread.

I think exactly thats the point of this thread: Nothing really happened. The differences are so vast that all the major bets of this Generation are already placed. In fact it is very probable that a price cut of the PS-3 wouldn't change anything.

There will only be a limited set of HD Games and most of them will be on both plattforms in nearly the same quality with slight advantages to the Xbox360. The problem for the PS-3 will be that most cost reserves were already realized. Its most important cost point would be the crossing of 200$ but you shouldn't be surprised if this won't happen in its lifetime. We are currently passing the halftime mark of 6this generation. The market situation for most software publishers is quite bad! The big guns no longer earn so much money that they can crossfinance the flops! This will play a much bigger role than a slight advantage of a few thousand consoles per week for this or that plattform.

You can bet that behind the scenes all companies are starting to work quite extensively on the next plattforms. The bigt problem: How can I get the most bang for the least amount of bucks?

@kars

thanks for pointing that out.... libellule missed it.

==> I m missing out nothing indeed and there is still no point of making a thread outside the dammage control aspect since there are already other thread talking about the gap itself.

Oh and libellue the gap is NOT smaller... thats the point too. good grief. Its just increasing at a smaller rate.

==> no, if adjustement up PS3 and down Xbox360 then it is smaller, point.

No the gap isnt smaller... because it was artifically too high, the adjustments are retrospective.

At no point does the worldwide gap chart show a drop since August last year.

So how is the gap smaller again?

==> but there were "adjustments"

that is all, it is now smaller compared to what it was before the adjustements ...

Damage control? not at all. Just using the charts that I produce regularly to show what is going on. If you dont like it dont look at them.

You are the one doing damage control my friend.

==> who is creating 2 threads about the same graph ?

no need to say more ...
