Forums - Sales - Has The Wii Onslaught In U.S Against HD Marketshare Stalled?

It's funny that the Wii has yet to receive a pricecut, special edition, new colour, or any other form of new promotional action. And it's STILL outselling both of its competitors combined, full price, almost 3 years after release, without ANY truly high-profile games out in recent months, during the worst economic recession the world has seen in over 70 years.

I'd say the Wii is doing fine. :)

"Oh noez! But wait 'till the PS3 gets a pricecut!"

 Amen.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

PS3 price cut? did you read Sony's financials? And what game on PS3 has had any sort of sustaining hardware boost or software presence?

Yes, they said 13m PS3s would be shipped. MGS 4 gave a sustained hardware boost to the PS3, as did the Final Fantasy XIII demo. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue also did a decent job in Europe, so Gran Turismo 5 and Final Fantasy XIII (both due out this fiscal year) should provide that for the PS3

1. It doesn't mean 13 millions PS3s are guaranteed to be shipped.

2. it's a 30%/3 million units increase from FY 2008. How much boost do you expect GT5 and FFXIII to provide on PS3 sales?

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

Not quite that much, but with declining sales so far, and no GTA IV or MGS 4, they are going to need a price cut if they intend to reach that target

There was never an "onslaught" except at the start when 360 had a year more time on the market than Wii did, and a ~3m unit lead.

Obviously when you go from HD only to Wii and HD systems, Wii was able to take away alot of the market share from the HD segment.
