Forums - Nintendo - The Official Punch-Out!! Thread of join the Nintendo Fun Club today, Mac!

Alright, so let me offer a real opinion on this game besides just "it's awesome".

- The sound design is absolutely AMAZING. The sound effects are very convincing and I love that each boxer speaks in his native tongue. I'm most impressed with the music though - arranging the original Punch-Out!! theme in the context of each boxers background was not only a great idea but it was flawlessly executed in-game.

- The game is just gorgeous in 480p widescreen - I'm really impressed with the animation and overall clean presentation.

- There is a lot of meat on these bones. Running through the game the first time is all well and good, but Title Defense Mode and Exhibition Mode challenges will keep gamers busy for a long while. I think Title Defense Mode in and of itself was the extra that truly makes the game worthwhile.

That is all.

I've only just beaten the regular mode, and then I got my ass handed to me rather quickly by Glass Joe in Title Defense. More than once, too. This game is simply amazing, and just like Kenology said, the sound is where I find it shines the most. I just love this game :D

Really? I found both Super Macho Man and Mr. Sandman much tougher than title defense Glass Joe and Von Kaiser. Macho Man and Sandman both have punches which are timed so that if you dodge them immediately, you bounce back into a fist. Title defense Glass Joe and Von Kaiser's slow punches give enough time that you can dodge a second time and get out of the way.

Disco Kid on the other hand is a huge pain in the ass. Even worse, his Richard Simmons makeover will make you really want to kick his ass, but his unpredictability just runs right over you.

I'm at TD Bear Hugger right now but i took a break to do all of the challenge in contender mode and those were the best thing about the game so far.

Beating somebody once in career is nice but the challenges really put your skill to the limit, they make you master a fight by counter punching every move.

I just got to Bear Hugger myself, and he's now officially the best fighter in the game. Not even the super secret final final boss can be cooler than a syrup-binging Canuck with a squirrel under his hat.

I agree Bear Hugger is the best opponent in Punch Out!.

I'm working on title defense mode, and the challenges right now. I've beat Glass Joe completely on title defense, and all the challenges. The challenges against him weren't very hard. Von Kaiser's a little tough on title defense though, I'm going to take him down today.

Also I've been playing multiplayer with friends a bit, and its alright but there doesn't seem to be too much strategy to it. Anyone can jump in and win really, there's alot of random punches, and dodges. It's just a nice little add in if you have people over and they want to try it. I hope next level goes right to work on another punch out for wii, with a full roster of characters for multiiplayer which would allow for more strategy. An online component to go with that would be even better.

Support good third party games on wii. Buy games like house of the dead overkill, de blob, madworld, the conduit and boom blox.

I finally got the game last Friday. It's so much fun.

Normal mode was quite easy with only Great Tiger, Super Macho Man and Mr. Sandman giving me a hard time (My Super Punch-Out!! experience worked against me for Great Tiger because I'm so used to always dodging on the opposite side of a punch. )

Title Defense Glass Joe and Von Kaiser were okay but easier than SMM and Sandmand. Now I'm stuck at Disco Kid but I decided to do some challenges. This really adds tons of replay value to the game. One of my favorite was KO a crownless King Hippo.

Anybody know how to TKO Von Kaiser in only 5 punches? With one punch to get a star, one to stun him and a star punch to knock him down, I'm at 3 punches per knockdown so I'm way off on this.

Signature goes here!

Hopefully I'll be able to get this today...

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

That challenge is actually a five punch KO, so you only need to knock him down once really hard. Try getting yourself three stars, stunning him with a jab after you dodge, then unleash a triple star punch on his face. I can't remember exactly what I did, so some kind of special timing might be required.
